Mom got a new phone and asked to take a picture of me to pop up when I call her or whatevs. I told her no and sent her this:  It's my userpic on all the social media, because, that's ... pretty much what I look like to other people. I should update it, I have less messy hair now and also have blacked out all the shiny/white bits on the camera by covering them with gaffer tape.

Updated to show the blacked-out camera: It really confuses people because the strap (not shown) is a Canon EOS-branded one. One time the Canon sales guys did a demo at the college and gave away a bunch of swag, and the Canon strap is far better that the Nikon ones (which are too short and fall apart within a year.) I'd remove the branding from the strap, but I've never had much success removing embroidery. My newspaper rig for most of my time was a D1x that was completely covered in gaffer tape except for the parts that needed to move, most of which was structural.

You are all very nice to look at. Well, Marcus and Sweet, the beard gymnastics are commendable but not my thing. In other news, I got a ballcap with a bunch of Velcro pads on it, and a patch or two to stick on it, and still don't have a face.  This patch made my Vietnam-vet father laugh.
