jojoinnit posted:huh? People that make things, and usually also attempt to share what they do, or their knowledge. Adam Savage, Jimmy Diresta, AvE, etc. I'd even call the 8-bit Guy a sort of maker. And it doesn't have to be wood or steel or welding or 3D printing, it can be anything like sewing or painting or just being a dude that repairs their own car (and all of the bodgery that comes along with doing that at home without a proper shop). A large part of the "maker" movement is gathering with others, or sharing resources or knowledge. If you look up "<town> makerspace," even for small towns, you'll often find someone who owns a barn or warehouse or just a large garage that will supply the space and tools that other people can come and use. Think "shop class garage + art room + auto class" and mash it all up. Charge a monthly fee and let people do their own poo poo (with appropriate safety measures, of course) and you have a makerspace. "Makers" tend to also focus on positivity and having a "DIY attitude," but without the pitfalls of someone doing DIY work alone without research or the proper knowledge of how to do it safely. Many maker "communities" even include classes and knowledge sharing by things like their local Amish, Hutterite, or Mennonite populations, when it's allowed. "Respect anyone who works with their own hands" type of deal. evobatman posted:It means they own a 3d printer. No. I have a 3D printer, but it's not the be-all-end-all of "making." It's a useful tool that can be used to augment other projects, but rarely the focus. 3D printers have, however, reduced the barrier-to-entry into creating things that nobody else has created, and have allowed for freer experimentation with design thought. It's like having a leatherman tool: extremely useful when space/time/money is limited, and can really get you out of a bind at a critical moment when "nothing else will do," but not perfect for nearly anything it does. Thank you for putting it better than I could! Maybe the word 'maker' sounds a bit much, but the community/movement/whatever you want to call it is genuinely interesting and educational. There are some fantastically creative and skilled people out there and YouTube is a great way to learn from them.

Lets see...when was it that had the newsgrounds mascot doing a school shooting? That was pretty early on, innit? Johnny Aztec has a new favorite as of 03:25 on Mar 18, 2018 |

I remember stumbling upon an animated "give Britney Spears a dirty sanchez" game when I was like 14 (and I'm pretty sure she was like 16 ). I was completely innocent to the concept of butt stuff so I was pretty horrified.

I bought a bunch of Chinese knockoff amiibo cards off of the Newegg marketplace because I collect cards/card games, and if they actually work as amiibos I guess that's cool since it's not like you can legitimately buy those anyways. They came today and it's like a puzzle just to figure out which character they actually are. Very good use of Yes my favorite Nintendo character....magic...Star Wars Togruta...lady? BotW Mipha

Yeah that’s definitely a crappy Knight costume rather than a crappy samurai costume. Wonder if it’s the wrong photo or the wrong description.

KataraniSword posted:Wrong description, most likely intentionally. Quite accurate to their actual role in combat, actually. In media samurai are elite swordsman, when in truth they were more along the lines of mounted archers and spearmen. Katanas were basically a sidearm for them, something to be used if they got taken off their horse.
