I'd probably have a zodiac weapon for every job I have leveled up if it wasn't for those loving things. The books at least take as long as it does to hit level 13 in Eureka and are about million times more loving tedious. And you have to do them for each.and.every.single.relic. instead of eating poo poo once

It's probably not bad in practice but the risk of xp loss kinda just gives me dumb gaming anxieties.

Just shout for a res, my dude. I've died more times than I can count in Eureka and I've not lost experience once. There's always going to be at least one person willing to run to the ends of the earth to scrape you off the sidewalk, regardless of whether you happen to be near the train or not.

Usually me. Gives me something to do while fates spawn and I’ll be hosed if I’m going to do the requisite farming, level 20 or no.

GOTTA GO FIST
The closest I came was dying on my way to Pazuzu in a really awkward spot, completely missing the entire fight (because nobody is going to leave to get me) and then watching people run past me. Luckily my party decided to make the run back for me. It was kinda close. I'm willing to be annoying, I'll spam Shout like every 15 seconds. There was no way I was willing to spend more time than I had to leveling in Eureka.

Full disclosure though, just spending time in there to cap Mendacity has the side effect of allowing me to drop an i355 weapon on my fresh 70s. That's pretty good.

I bought the mog mount so I could help ferry lowbies, and have frequently left fights or ran back and fourth grabbing people and taking them to the nm, and ensuring they make it through the shark tunnel or whatever. I've played nothing but rdm to rez and heal.

People have been really grateful, and that's cool I like helping, but it's also just something to do.

The rush of trying to pull your dead body out of the mob pile while avoiding the elemental aggro is the most excitement I'm going to get.

This is a nice side-bonus to Anemos gear. Follow the train and you can easily cap tomes in a single Eureka session. It's great for when you don't feel like EXDR.

I have no friends but I do have a wedding Chocobo (rip my catwife). Of course even when I announce a free ride or run circles around a party member that's on foot I still can't convince anybody to hop on half the time.

Which is a shame since before I hit 17, Legolas-ing into a passing fat moogle was a fun way to get around.

I don't know if they've fixed this, but it was possible as of a few weeks ago to friend alts, which lets you mail to them or share houses:

1) Start casting a teleport to a different zone on one of the characters.
2) Before the cast finishes, force the game to close through Task Manager or whatever the PS4 has.
3) Log on with the second character.
4) Find your first character through player search or the FC list or something and send a friend request.
5) Log over to the first character and accept the request.

Almost to level 30 and really liking things so far. The ARR story isn't too bad overall, but definitely has it's exciting points and it's boring/lovely points. Looking forward to making my Pugilist a Monk this evening. :q:

I'm also considering leveling Samurai once I get to 50. I hear their individual DPS is pretty solid but their group utility is hot garbage. Are they at least fun to play?

Depends on what you find fun. Single target rotation, they are probably the laziest melee dps and I really like that. What I mean specifically by that is you aren't having to reposition all the time like you do with mnk and drg, while also not having to deal with the fiddly mudra system of nin. You also don't really have any traditional damage cooldowns so you kinda just do all your poo poo as the cooldowns come up (truly optimal play for savage raiding you might hold on to things for trick attack windows and poo poo based on party composition but that kind of thing is way down the line). For AE pulls in dungeons, they actually have a rotation of sorts, which nobody else really does and I find that quite satisfying, even if aiming the cone on fuga is a real pain in the rear end.

So really, if you want fairly simple, give sam a shot and if you want to stay complex then stick with mnk or try nin. Drg for something kinda in the middle.
