I used Voronin in some of my vanilla lists, he's pretty cheap, can defend himself against short range bs attacks and cc fairly well, and most importantly provides 2 orders to your pool. He wasn't a cornerstone or anything, but he had his place. I won't make a federal case out of losing him, but its not ideal.

Shoot me now. I just started Infinity and picked Ariadna as my starting faction, then decided that infiltrating camo games would be a GREAT idea for a newbie! Because a bunch of unsupported forward line guys using crazy complicated rules can't go wrong, right?

- Never forget about Surprise shot - when your Tankhunter, Chasseur or Scout pops out on Active turn, he imposes -3 to everything that your opponent (aside from someone in a 5-man link) would do, even dodge. If they decide to shoot back and don't have a visor, that would be -9 mod (surprise, camo and cover), which is a very favorable roll to you.
- When you shoot on active turn, don't forget about the first half of an order - if you don't plan to put your dude into Suppresive fire, use him in that turn, or leave for ARO duty it would be a good idea to say that you are going prone/behind the corner before making a shot.
- Utilize coordinated orders to end your turn in good position - if nobody sees your dudes, put up to 4 of them into Supressive fire or recamo

Darnit :( The WMH and Malifaux ones aren't that bad. Guild Ball is...not sure. There seems to be a bit of dumb "humor" and excessive use of Salt memes.

Not sure about "interesting". I was going to go with p3 Bloodstone for the main color and p3 Meaty Ochre for the trim, but thinking about reversing it.

Well, the comms equipment thing is a byproduct of the TAG entering the Isolated state. If the TAG is Isolated, at the beginning of his turn he doesn't add the TAG's order to his pool and it's considered to be irregular. The TAG also can't make use of regular orders in the pool. Effectively you turn his big robot he sunk a lot of points into, into something that trundles a few feet, shoots, then sits impotently, unless he spends orders to get an Engineer to remove Isolation.

Cassa
Jan 29, 2009
Isolated is great, sure, but looking at the wiki Oblivion causes Disabled instead?

LizardBeam

Not an AmphiBeam
Oblivion causes the Isolated state. The Isolated state is really rough, and ALSO disables all Comms equipment. So, even if the TAG has no Comms, it's now irregular, can't spend orders from the order pool, and if it was Lt., they go into Loss of Lt.

So the Comms thing just means if you use it on a hacker, they can't hack with their irregular order, or a remote can't act as a repeater anymore. On a TAG it's more about making it so their huge unit can't rambo around anymore, limiting it to one order.

Oblivion posted:

Failing the BTS Roll causes the target to enter the Isolated state, signified by an Isolated Marker (ISOLATED) in base to base contact.

Isolated posted:

Effects
  • While Isolated, troopers cannot receive Orders from their Order Pool.
  • If, at the start of his following Active Turns, the trooper is still Isolated, then he is considered to be Irregular and it does not add his Order to that Turn's Order Pool.
  • The Isolated state disables all pieces of Equipment with the Trait Comms Equipment (Hacking Device, Repeater...) carried by the affected trooper for the duration of the state.
  • Additionally, if an army's Lieutenant is Isolated, then at the beginning of its next Active Turn the army enters a Loss of Lieutenant situation unless the state is cancelled first.
  • An Isolated trooper ceases to be part of any kind of Infinity Fireteam (Core, Haris, Enomotarchos, Tohaa...) (see Infinity. Human Sphere and Infinity. Campaign: Paradiso).
  • If the Isolated trooper is the Link Leader (or equivalent) then the Fireteam will break too.
  • This state does not affect Automatic Special Skills or Automatic Equipment (with the exception of Comms Equipment)
.

EDIT: The confusion is probably from the FAQ at the bottom. Oblivion is tagged in that question, but it's about Blackout. Blackout disables, Oblivion Isolates.

I have a question about hacking, immobilization, and repeaters.

This is the situation: My opponent had a Wu Ming HI hiding behind a building. I tossed a Pitcher onto the roof of the building, and then used my Interventor to use Gotcha to Disable him, which succeeded. The question is, does he get a chance to Reset if my Interventor(or any other hacker) takes any other action during that turn? Like if I just have my Inteventor move, and not into the Wu Mings zone of control, does the Wu Ming get to try to reset unopposed because he is in the repeater area and my hacker activated?

I believe the answer is no, but _might_ be yes if the WuMing was a hacker.

He can indeed declare reset as an aro if he's only in IMM-1. Of course, it needs to be a legit ARO, so you'd have to move in his zoc (or in Los if stealth).

He won't get to aro through your repeater unless you declare another attack against him.

It is almost always better to try and Possess TAG, it has a better chance of succeeding and, furthermore:
1) If you do it in active turn, you get to drive the TAG, wreck chaos and throw it from the roof
2) If you do it in reactive turn, your opponent would need to waste orders cancelling possession

Isolating TAG with a program would only make sense in the following:
1) You suspect it is a Lieutenant, so you can throw opponent into LoL (good luck isolating Avatar or Marut not through E/M though, lol)
2) It is an active turn, opponent has unused command tokens, and you have very few orders left, so you wouldn't be able to drive it.
3) TAG is in a hacking area of an opponent's hacker, so Possession wouldn't last long

Repeater is a one-way street for non-hackers, so he would only get the chance to declare Reset when you target him with another hacking attack or if he gets a line of sight to you.

Realistically I think the geckos and mobile brigada sort of split that role, Corregidor are one of the more fleshed out and tactically rounded Sectorial armies out there. I do think most of the S5 heavy infantry models look dope though.

Really interested to see Tunguska’s full roster. We’ve seen the potential light infantry and medium infantry core choices (Securitate, grenzers) and the big heavy and tag, but not much is known about the utility models and forward deploying specialists you need to make a faction work in ITS.
