To keep up the anime talk, you can get a lot of skeeviness in different shows in different ways.

I watched Everyday Life With Monster Girls a while back and I don't know if the source material is better, but watching that drat show... It had characters I found interesting, character designs I find really neat, the concept has a lot of potential. They really ruin it with the sex comedy being gross. Or the sexualized situations they put a few characters in given their ages/appearances.

All I could think of is I wish this had been done as more a 'girls series' or something. Circa 2015 or so, I guess, we'd been in a consistent and/or rising popularity of 'dark fantasy' and 'fantasy creatures are real' with girls and young women for about a dozen+ years at that point in the US. Had this just been a show without that male lead, without the sex comedy and fanservice, it's a concept you can hang all sorts of stories on about so many topics that it would suited for. It could have been generation's Sailor Moon, maybe, for the middle school to college audience.

It really didn't.

I use the 80s/90s comparison because the shows I remember probably get classed as 'sex comedies' from that era being like this was. Tenchi and Ranma and UY I think all that had that designation, and while I never watched the entirity of those series and I WAS younger when I saw them, I don't recall them getting as creepy as this.
