tl;dr: I hate Eureka and have not been able to muster the motivation to do more of it since I hit elemental level 6.

I gently led him to the realization that the task he had set for himself was quite a gargantuan one. I offered to make him some starter crafter equipment the next day, we talked a bit about soloing some content and other stuff in the game. I eventually logged off wishing him a good night.

Today he messages me out of the blue while i'm fishing, asking what to do when he can't stop having bad thoughts, that he has hurt himself since he was 8 years old, and that he took poison last year and how surprised he was that hospitals could actually lock you up

I uh... I wasn't expecting that second part.

In retrospect it would've saved everyone a lot of trouble if you had just crafted him some dzo steaks.

Use all those poetics you should've been able to gather since 50 to buy a shire set in Idyllshire.

Oh, man, gently caress Lambard. I did that quest without Shire Gear. Worst mistake I've ever made in this game.

Lambard hits like a drat truck and Vercure is your friend. Still better than Bibliotaph 2: Electric Boogaloo in the 65 quest though.

pretty easily, just spend poetics at idyllshire gets you a 260 set (which will probably crush any hw content anyways) and if you want, it's 100 poetics for each token that upgrades them to 270

Does make me slightly worried that the next vocal minority they listen to for gear additions would be some poo poo like "schoolgirl swimsuits" for lalafell or something equally disturbing, but im still going to try keep enough faith in dev team to not stoop that low.
Not to mean that this is equal to it or something silly like that, just that afaik it was a very vocal few who requested the feature, I for one welcome bunny outfits for the male catgirls and lizard gokus.

So any word on when next patch is from the latest news?

So I've decided I want to get my HW DRG relic weapon because it looks cool. Thanks to all the beast tribes currency I had gathered (and the foresight to grab the five aether oils a while back when I was capped on tomes), I started the relic a few hours ago and am nearly halfway through the umbrite step... But now I'm out of poetics :negative: Besides 50/60, MSQ, and Alliance roulettes, are there any other particularly good ways to quickly get poetics?

You could spam the 100 poetic dungeons, either at 50 or 60. It's not any slower than a 50/60 roulette would be. Baelsar's is a good bet because that one is a story dungeon so you'll occasionally get bonus tomes.

Look for people doing trials unsync'd for first time bonuses

Trawl thru PF for 1st time bonuses, or set up PFs for any trials you've unlocked but haven't done yet. PotD 51-60 isn't quick but it is steady.

I never dumped onto people directly out of the blue like that but having been in that dude's position in the past to a degree, even the smallest kindness can stop you from doing some poo poo you can't take back. Of course, sometimes that makes the person latch onto you too so. :smith:

Finally knocked out Halitali Hard, about the last dungeon I'd yet to do. While I think FF14 has issues, some of them serious, I think the game's dungeons are one of FF14's great strengths and I'm kinda curious what everyone's favorites are.

In no particular order, I'd put my favorites as:

Sirensong Sea: it has no story purpose, but there's a terrific atmosphere between the visual and music designs. Last boss has a simple but kinda fun gimmick that forces you to think a bit, and I'm legit curious about what the heck was going on here. Hard mode please?

Sohr Kai: Easily my favorite Heavensward dungeon, gorgeous scenery and atmosphere, and I'm always happy for a chance to beat up some moogles. Last boss is one of my favorites in the entire game.

Hullbreaker Isle: It's a fun little adventure in search of pirate treasure. FF14's main story tends to feel very heavy and serious to me, but Hullbreaker Isle feels like a goofy little diversion that's fun to blast through.

Antitower: It's apparently a homage to a Final Fantasy game I've never played, but I really like it as a strange, silly, off the wall little dungeon. Reminds me a lot of Karazhan from WoW.

Aetherochemical Research Facility: Ho hum about the dungeon itself, but terrific music.

I still haven't done all the ARR hards myself, I wish they had a wonder tails sticker this time around.

My stand out aesthetic favorites are the Antitower and Bardam's Mettle. I also think Ala Mhigo->Royal Menagerie is stronger than the end of HW's two-punch but that might be because everyone stomps the King now.
