So it's fine, take the insurance money and send it. PaintVagrant posted:Yeah I don’t get it either. It’s still the devil you know. What $2000 car is better? The front clip is pushed over a bit, and it's pulling pretty hard to one side with a really weird dead spot when the steering wheel is just a hair off center (where it'll take off in a random direction). Also, dead AC, rattling timing chain at startup (which could be a tensioner or a broken guide.. tensioner is easy, guides are an engine-out job), and gives a flashing CEL at startup + a big cloud of blue smoke if it's been sitting more than 2 days. The entire time I've owned it, I never let it sit more than 2 days, so I had never run into the startup issue (I had noticed a little bit of smoke at startup on occasion though) - but I had noticed oil consumption is up and mileage is down. Now that it's only been started 3x since the wreck, I've had the smoke + flashing CEL (P0301) twice. It also seems like compression is uneven if it's been sitting; it sounds like it's low on compression on 1 cylinder. So I'm looking at a pretty tired engine. It's still on the original clutch too, and going by what I can see through the inspection port, there's very little left of it. Doing the clutch on this requires dropping the subframe. If it wasn't pulling, I'd be fine with fixing it. If it hadn't started pulling this smokey poo poo, I'd be fine with fixing it. The misaligned panels on the passenger side (it got hit on the drivers side) are a giveaway that poo poo ain't straight anymore. randomidiot fucked around with this message at 19:40 on Apr 11, 2018 |

Without getting into politics, does anyone know if the previous CAFE mileage standard of 54.5mpg by 2025 was considered attainable by auto manufacturers? I know it's not a real world 54.5mpg avg, but I've heard conflicting reports of one the hand the manufacturers were beating the increases needed every year, while on the other people have said the incremental increases weren't going to be sustainable.

But between all this, the broken ac, the deferred maintenance, and it taking up a disgusting smoking habit, it's easier to just replace it. I can't handle another summer without ac, and this quickly turned into more than just a bumper/headlight/fender. It hits a point where you can't meet the goal eventually. But 54.5 average is more than doable, that's not the issue. Consumers are the issue. Because you can make those increases, and hit the numbers, but not in the vehicles people buy. There's no profit in small, efficient cars for GM, Ford, etc. And with gas still being relatively cheap, it puts even less pressure on those people to buy an efficient vehicle, when they can spend the same money and get an F150. Edit: Rhyno, how'd you bomb It? Legit asking, cause interview poo poo can be fixed pretty loving easily. And I may not be good at a lot of poo poo, but interviews are my loving ace in the hole.

LoL. So he asked me how long ago I left my previous job, so I was honest (just about 3 months). He says "That's kind of a long time, why did you wait until April to apply?" I told him about the wedding and honeymoon and he responds "You got married without having steady work? Isn't that kind of irresponsible?" It got more awkward from there, dude was very unprofessional and kept asking questions that in no way could pertain to the job.

A better response would be "I had other opportunities come up, and chose to pursue them before jumping back in to the professional world. I know that with the experience I have, the time I took away will not impact my career and I look forward to whatever challenges and opportunities will come from working for *company* as *job*." I did a little interview coaching but this is the first real job interview I have ever had. I was offered my last two jobs, the bar hired me on the spot with no interview or references. The last 18 years I didn't even have to try to get a job. So I was a bit unprepared. My friend who does work there says she had similar questions and got a call back for a second interview a week later. So we'll see.

gently caress the steaming pile of cancer that is YouTube targeted to kids. I've got a traumatized 8 year old, because my dumbfuck brother-in-law and his wife don't pay any attention to what their kids watch. We were at a family gathering on Saturday and my 8 year old girl ran off to play with their 10 year old girl. Just like they always do. Except, after that, she's been inconsolable with her crying about this scary video the 10 year old showed her. What did she describe? The exact scene of 4:30-ish here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tjd8no-9Eo Holy gently caress. That whole douche bag's channel is a steaming pile of cancer. And that video should NEVER be seen by anyone, much less a 10 year old. I've got my kids on a pretty solid supervisory system. They know I watch what they watch and I search their history. They have NEVER strayed... it's just not in them right now. But now I'm uber-pissed off about this, because I don't even know how to deal with an absolutely innocent 8 year old having seen that poo poo, explaining it to her that it's meant to scare adults, and it's only makeup and scary camera shots, and then have her say "I know that in my brain, but my eyes keep seeing it" as she sobs. gently caress people.

If there are any red flags like the weird personal questions they were asking it's a good indication that you probably don't want to work there, especially if the guy interviewing you is gonna be your boss.

On an internal combustion engine? Yeah probably but then the only thing that would be sold would be 3 and 4 cylinders in everything with a displacement <2 liters. As said, the market isn't there for the high price of hybrids/electrics since gas is cheap. You can regulate whatever the gently caress you want but you can't control what people want to buy. If we put 1.5L turbo engine in a larger SUV, America would just buy something else and pay the gas guzzler tax. There's been a lot invested in assuming the current regulation was going to be the thing though. I don't think it'll really change a whole lot at my company personally since I think everyone already sees that electric is the eventuality.
