Is creating a plague to genocide living things any worse than using magic spells or swords to genocide living things like the player characters usually do? Also, none have a blessed clue what's actually going on around them (although MitD seems to have suddenly become more savvy, lately). Come to think, can we peg a specific point where Monsty became smart enough to pick up on (and understand) the whole "Pan-goblinoid mythology to elide pre-existing racial tensions" thing?

I'm not sure MoD was dumb exactly, just an alien sort of intelligence, or even just very young. It naively accepted whatever it was told by the people who fed it, the way a child accepts information from its guardians. O-Chul taught it to think for itself and make its own decisions, but he wouldn't have been able to do that if the mental capacity simply wasn't there.
