Sex sells. Always has and always will. Call centre work in market research the respondent was extremely more likely to do a survey if the call centre operator was a lady. The highest conversion rate was always girls and it's just the way some places have to run because political polling respondents were all lonely old men.

That's weird, women didn't perform any better than men when I worked at Telstra. They did, however, get sent shirtless photos by dudes in a relationship or got abused by mens girlfriends after they did the standard follow up text / call that we were all obliged to do a day after a sale.

Right and left-wing groups have faced off outside Foreign Minister Julie Bishop's office during a protest over the treatment of white farmers in South Africa. Members of the Australian Liberty Alliance (ALA) and other groups delivered a petition calling on the Federal Government to create a special refugee visa category for the farmers. Both sides taunted each other from across the street, with the left-wingers holding signs saying "fight racism" while the right-wingers carried banners saying "let the right ones in". The petition calls for 80 per cent of humanitarian visas to be given to white farmers. As the ALA supporters crossed the street to deliver the petition, they had to walk through the left-wing groups. The shouting increased and there was some pushing and shoving, forcing the police to intervene and keep the rival groups apart. However, no-one was arrested. ALA activist Avi Yemini said the Government should create a quota for South Africans within the humanitarian visa intake for next financial year. "We want a commitment … just like we did for the Syrians last year," he said. "The only reason anybody [from the Government] can give that they're not doing that is because they're white and they're Christian." ALA president Debbie Robinson said South Africans did not have time to wait for visas. "The situation in South Africa right now is dire," she said. "There are people being slaughtered, women and children [are] being raped. "[Visas], they take time and there is no time for these people, they are going to disappear if we don't do something soon." ALA protesters accused of racism Sarah, who spoke on behalf of the gathered left-wing groups, said the ALA and their supporters were racists. "I would describe that petition as being white Australia policy by stealth," she said. "They know they can't come out and say 'let's ban black and white refugees', so instead they do it by stealth." Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton caused a diplomatic row last month when he said white farmers were facing "horrific circumstances" in South Africa and deserved "special attention" from a civilised country. Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull later said Australia had been raising its concerns with the South African Government about violence there. He reiterated Australia's humanitarian program was open to South Africans who feared persecution, but insisted no special category would be required. - This is from the ABC and I would like you all to note that the article names the Australian Liberty Alliance but only refers to its opposition protest as "left wing groups". I personally am triggered by this very subtle bias. Also;

The company subcontracted for construction says they weren't told how much stuff was under the roads, or where, and they're suing the state. The brand-new rail line between Epping and Chatswood is going to be shut down for a year, replaced by buses, to convert it for "metro” cars On the subject of light rail. This is what happens when you don’t spend money on the project feasibility studies and assessments. On the subject of Epping to Chatswood. It’s less than a year and the “new” 10 year old rail line is being upgraded to provide a better service. Short term pain for long term gains.

bandaid.friend posted:Yeah seven months is a lot less than a year, huh. I was lazy and put that in off memory. I don't think the metro is a bad idea but I do think it's real odd the line is being redone so soon after being built Epping to Chatswood had infrastructure issues and I believe was identified for the northwest metro when the project was first discussed 15+ years ago. Given how pressing it was, they built it first. This isn’t atypical for massive rail projects as it provides proof of feasibility for these projects. People give NSW transport divisions a bad rap, but they have very good long term strategy right now. *edit* A report from 2009 containing the ECRL identified for metro to the northwest. https://www.opengov.nsw.gov.au/download/11875 prior to this, it would have been identified outside of the “metro” remit and I don’t have the patience to search. People seem to forget that the Epping-Chatswood line was originally supposed to be the Parramatta-Chatwood line, but was left half-finished by the Bob Carr government. On its own, the line wasn't doing much. Converting it to metro and isolating it from the network will actually help to reduce congestion and improve service overall, especially once it connects to the CBD metro and the Bankstown line is converted. The overall metro plan is not a bad one, but my main concern is that it runs a little too far for trains that mostly have standing room only.
