Which, there are clearly more deserving people as much as I love him, but he does have plenty of great riffs across his discography.

The early polish scene had a few bands that did this well, early Christ Agony is particularly good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMD44LK3d3g https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDZ0x-RQT5E but you could also check out Taranis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwGlXqNn9Q0 and Xantotol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZdG_5fluRc

For newer bands I like Black Priest of Satan, bit of Barathrum in there too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWvlaBHxzWs

The main riff in Bastard is one of the best riffs I’ve ever heard. Doom riff levels of simplicity but it’s perfect.

Well, it's not quite a spooky pope singing about satan prayers anymore with hooded guys, but it was inevitable really. Song is poppy as hell, but sure does stick in my head. Also, seeing a cardinal singing and dancing on a street of plague corpses has entertainment value though. Shame that the ghoul masks as largely the same still. Either way, I'm looking forward to the new album :).

And yes, this is an awesome riff. I could listen to it for hours.

I’m warming up to Ghost lately. I like their poppy hooks and embracing the theatric over the top thing is fun and cool. Kinda tired of deep deathly serious bands around every corner.

Rats isn't my favourite Ghost song but I still really like it and am looking forward to the album
