I was reading forums on a laptop during work downtime, and got a lil bit of a skeptical 'what are you reading?' from my manager, prolly because In was reading the alt-right thread what had a lot of tweets embedded lucky for me I was able to go 'oh its people making fun of internet nazis' because he was a lib but yeah these forums in general can give the wrong impression I love the lil getout frog, but it would be a cool feature to be able to replace it on the splash with alternative icons. Like low priority obvs, but I wouldn't hate seeing my good buddy  on startup

Mario assaults giant amphibians The logo thing is a bit difficult because Android does not anticipate different logos per app and the logo itself is set in a configuration file and static, so it can't be set via configuration. I'll try if I can at least supply a second icon in the app files that could be selected in a custom launcher. If that works I'll ask spanky to draw up  or something.The situation with the loading screen is similar but I'll take a look at what can be done there. But frog will stay as the default

On 3.5.0 beta, the app goes back to the main forum listing if I minimize the app and then re-load it from either the app list or the shortcut icon. It used to have permanence; however I loaded the app it'd retain what I was reviewing. Not sure if this is known; I skimmed past the frogchat.

Flamingo is only unavailable as it hit the twitter api limit, and it can indeed change its icon without needing a special launcher. You get a little toast warning you it might take a while to appear but its usually instant for me

There was a really lovely iPhone app back in like 2010 that used the grenade as its icon and charged money, and Lowtax banned the guy who made it. It was never clear whether the ban was for using the grenade, charging money for a forums app, or both. I have no idea if this is why the android devs don't use the grenade nowadays, but it scared people off of using the grenade in an app icon for a long time.

I like the Something app better for several reasons (is that wrong to say in here when there's development crossover?) and one of them is the grenade-ish logo, if you don't want the frog logo check out the other android app.

Except I think the PM composition interface is more clear on Something. Other than that it's all just differing visual choices I prefer. But that's for reading the forums, doing anything else Awful has all the features Something doesn't of course. I use both apps and having them together in a folder so it says SOMETHING AWFUL with grenade coffee and frog amuses me.

When you log out the app doesn't kick you to the login screen, it just sits there without confirmation that anything was done. Is this intended behavior?

And what's the new phone? Only thing I can suggest offhand is clearing your app data, just in case something screwy is happening when the app resumes forcing it to completely restart. Does it happen on every part of the app (thread view, forum view, forum list, reply screen, PM screen, settings screen) and does it happen consistently? I know you've rolled back but that beta's gonna end up being rolled out at some point, so it's better to try and fix the issues before then - that's really what the beta is for

Yeah, I'm seeing it as well. On a Pixel 2 XL, if I leave the app and reopen it through the app icon, it opens to the forum index. It's not purging the app from memory, I don't think, because I can still swipe left twice to get back to my most recent thread. Reopening the app through the recent apps list also works as it's supposed to.

Nah Hipster D is talking about the app constantly restarting (with the splash screen) just from like popping over to another app for a moment and back. The 'app icon opens the forums index' thing is a different issue e- the logout thing should be fixed in beta btw
