If I was locked in a room with only that picture for 12h I still wouldn't have figured that out without an explanation I kept saying it over and over in my head in a bad accent to no avail before I scrolled down to responses Edit: fcuk sniped

Well today was a pain in the arse. Took the car for a very long overdue wash after it failed its inspection (hadn't been driven in over a month, in part due to a slipping clutch, so the battery needed replacing). After the car wash I figured an hour-long cruise at highway speeds might solve the issue. Stopped for gas halfway and discovered the 9 and the e resting on the lip below the rear hatch! I guess driving it like a grandpa with as little acceleration as possible paid off, because they must have been sat there for 25 miles. Only the A and X seemed firmly secured, the rest were getting wobbly so I pulled them off. Is it worth getting a tube of body trim adhesive or will Gorilla glue suffice?

Now that both my wife and I work at home, the car is suffering from neglect. But since the alternative is a car payment for a car we’ll rarely drive, I guess it’s time to sink some money into it.

it's easier to just scrape the gum off and debadge it but now is the best time to go on ebay, order that same badge for like or whatever and then mix the pieces together when you put them back on to have the only 69x in town

Need something from trunk of van -> too stupid to just go outside -> squeeze torso between rear seat and hatch -> reach too far down -> fall/wedge self upside down -> just barely handstand-reverse crawl my way back up Though in this case, rather than stupidity it seems like the rear seat became unlocked and tilted over as he was reaching, with similar results. The terrible thing is he managed to give them his location and description of the van on his second 911 call, but this was allegedly never relayed to the police who were already nearby looking for him

That's really sad His father found him. Dead. In his van. In his high school parking lot. I cannot even begin to estimate, as a father, how I would feel if I found my son dead when he managed to reach 911 twice.

It is a failure of the system, but it should also be considered that 6 years ago he would have been found dead in his van with no 911 calls because Siri didn't exist yet. So technology almost saved the day.

I saw a Corolla being towed on a dolly by a budget truck today. Except... they backed it into the dolly so it was going 65mph backwards with the front wheels turned a good 20 degrees. RIP tires and whatever else.

These fuckwits. Not a great photo because I was stopped at the lights next to them, but two contractor-types were clambering all over their enormous Brotruck and the trailer behind it, trying to put all of the wood that had just slid forward off the trailer and smashed the rear window back into place. They were doing this in the middle lane of a major arterial road, and traffic was backed up about a kilometer, even though it's school holidays and the morning rush isn't nearly as bad right now.

Possibly the trans too, IIRC there are a bunch of FWD cars that really dislike being towed on their drive wheels even in neutral.

IIRC, Saturns are popular with RV owners because they can be towed with all 4 wheels down. The transmission fluid still flows normally when the car is off, so they don't have to disconnect driveshafts

That's the OG Saturns, yeah. 1st and 2nd gens. Once they went to shared drivetrains, that went away. There's a handful of cars from many makes that can be flat towed these days.

Good news is that once you're dead, you don't give a poo poo anymore. And based on the stories I got from some firefighter buds, dying in a shower is not the least dignified way to go.

I wonder why the Cavalier/Sunfire/Saturn F23 is suitable for a toad car but other manual transmissions presumably are not. I had assumed that pretty much every stick-shift is splash-oiled, so centre-differential cars aside, it should be fine to tow them? Maybe some transmissions have a different oiling system where it needs the input shaft to spin in order to sling oil?
