Lots of filler in this episode! By which I mean the entire forest segment with everyone fighting the beasts happens off-screen in the manga.

Going back to the older discussion as someone who reads comics and manga, and Super Hero Comics especially... The issue with Superman is not that he's boring, it's that most writers write a boring Superman. Peter J. Tomasi's Superman run currently has been one of the best takes on the character in a long time, namely because it finally brings Superman to the point he probably should have been at years ago, namely, he's a Father dealing with his own son who's own superpowers are sporadic and uncontrolled at best, doing his best to be a father and a hero at the same time. It helps the series is as much about Jon's (His son) growth, friendship with Damian Wayne, coming into his own as a character, as it is about Superman doing hero stuff. It has a lot more of the human element to Superman that many writers miss, along with bringing him into a role that he is perfectly suited for, that of the father and mentor. The downside, of course, is that Tomasi's run is ending, and Brian Michael Bendis is coming in to replace him as the writer for Superman (And replacing Dan Jurgens as the writer for Action Comics and more) So who loving knows where the quality is going to go! And as others have said... that's the problem with comics. I just told you that this run was really good, but now it's ending and now someone else is taking over and there's almost no chance the same themes, thoughts, and competency is kept. Though hilariously these days if you want to read comics and not hate yourself, it's pretty much DC or indie books. Marvel's movies are fine, but their comics are event comic leading into event comic leading into spin-off from event comics leading to bullshit. It has the opposite problem that I just mentioned. I know all the writers in Marvel, I know I hate most of their work and I know that no matter how much Marvel professes that "Nothing will be the same again" that it's still the same loving names shifted around. So everything will be the same again. And it will suck. Also, this episode was really good.

Motherfucker drags the show down with stupid boob jokes that stopped being funny in 2004, don't pretend we'd lose anything if he vanished from the show.

so far if the anime is expanding on stuff that was only touched on in the manga then this is cool and good Mineta exists to get owned so I don't really care if he does all the trashy poo poo, because the show recognizes that he's a pervert and acts accordingly

Great episode. This is the kind of filler that really works honestly. Also the animation quality is pretty drat good for filler action. MHA has really, really lucked out so far as staffing goes. You can legit feel and see the quality in the production if you take a look at MHA and look at other adapted shonen in the same timeframe like Black Clover (which has flat out gotten done dirty despite being the objectively inferior series).

My big problem with Mineta is that, no matter how lovely he acts, the worst consequence he suffers is something immediate like getting smacked or told off. His general awfulness is treated as a running gag rather than a character flaw, which means he'll probably stay that way forever, rather than be forced to change or improve in any meaningful way. Pretty standard stuff for token pervert characters in anime, but still annoying, especially in a show with such a generally likeable cast.
