The last xXx convinced me that Vin Diesel is getting too old for this poo poo. He should watch Roger Moore's Bond movies again and see how he pulled it off.

I really enjoyed the new one but I do think it's probably one of those things that's really fun to see pop up every 4 or 5 years but if Diesel is gonna try to churn one out every year now it's gonna get tired pretty quickly.

I liked how in Rampage I was expecting Grizzled McMerc hunting the wolves to be the Rock's 3rd act antagonist to give him someone to fight while the monsters fought but nope he's wolf poo poo. I was honestly surprised he didn't make it out of that scene alive..

Yeah that was a weird point, for the most part the film was telescoping the gently caress out of its punches (at one point the characters just abandoned all pretense and simply started announcing what was about to happen :v:) but there were also a bunch of Chekhov's Guns which never paid off, like the villain's pet rat which kept getting shoved in our faces but never does anything/

Roger Moore very badly did not want to do A View to a Kill, feeling he had already stayed in the role too long, but the Broccolis wouldn't let him out of his contract.

He was properly horrified upon learning that not only was Tanya Roberts young enough to be his granddaughter, he was older than her mother.

Dear Rock,

I too enjoy movies to have happy endings. But a happier ending to Rampage would have been your character growing huge, punching the other animals back to regular form curing them, then you, the ape, the croc, and the wolf bro it up in the gym while your character hella bangs Malin Ackerman’s character to the good side and changes her ways restoring and repairing the city and lost lives and her brother takes the fall. K Thanks.

Edit would have been better not to have done the dramatic end for George’s death because it worked very well and it felt ruined to have it both ways. George is a good character though and would be good for a sequel so okay. Just don’t cheapen the film.

How much will be about Harley Quinn and how much will be about the actual Birds of Prey team is currently a mystery

http://deadline.com/2018/04/harley-...son-1202365866/

Steven Spieberg will direct Blackhawk, and again there isn't really any information on if it will be during World War II (probably the best choice for pulp retrofuture fun!) or set afterwards (when they became super heroes for some reason) Also they probably won't have Chop-Chop be a racist stereotype like he was in the 40s. Spielberg has been rumored to want to make a Blackhawk movie since I was a kid, obviously the powerhouse that was Ready Player One finally gave him the clout he was looking for. There was a Blackhawk serial in the 50s starring the original Superman, Kirk Alyn

Well there is some truth to that imo, Craig's age combined with the overall clumsiness of the themes during his run made for a confusing Bond. He's supposed to be a brand new 00 agent in Casino Royale and Quantum, then all of the sudden in Skyfall he's grizzled and washed up, and in Spectre it's implied that only after his run-in with Blofield did he become the agent we know from the Connery era films. And yet he looks about 35-40 years old right off the bat in Casino Royale, it doesn't really fit together very well at all.

Anyway he makes up for it in other areas.

I remember the complaints about Craig but I don't remember his age being one of them. Of course, Martin Campbell would have preferred to cast Henry Cavill, who was about 22 at the time.

I feel like it all ties together way better if you take Skyfall as being outside of the others' continuity. It's an anniversary movie, so it's a bit more beholden to the series as a whole than it is to the Craig sub-series specifically, and IIRC Spectre never actually directly mentions anything from Skyfall.

Yeah, I just refreshed my memory and that perfunctory line and Judi Dench not being M are the only references to Skyfall. And Blofeld being behind Silva makes literally no sense so I'm kind of inclined to ignore it.

It really does depend on Skyfall because that's where M dies and then at the beginning of Spectre the thing that kicks off the plot is a posthumous message that M left for Bond to kill some dude and attend his funeral.

The Author of All Your Pain line isn't just perfunctory either, Bond is explicitly shown that Spectre was behind everything that happened to him including Quantum and Vesper's death. Mr. White also is heavily featured in Spectre.

Didn't one of the games that came out around that time even do just that, with Bond remembering reliving events of previous movies (with Craig in the role now) after he got shot by Moneypenny by mistake in the opening of Skyfall?

007 Legends is a good game if you want to watch low-budget cutscenes of all your favorite Bond moments, condensed down and with voice actors who are clearly bored.

The game was apparently such a disaster that the developers decided to prematurely end its license of the Bond property and pulled all PC copies of it.
