i'd hope that that ends up mattering enough, but i am not holding my breath. china was a bigger market, but everyone has folded in just about every way on that front. it is not like amazon has to be so flashy as to kick telegram off the service, or hand over arbitrary information to the government, they could in the name of "transparency" just make it harder to roam the ip range without identifying yourself in some manner, and i sort of doubt amazon would lose much sleep over that

They probably all have exceptions, but I'm still entertained by the notion of the GSB officers tasked with running the Twitter bots unable to do their jobs because Russia banned itself from half the Internet over Telegram.

has RKN blocked any ipv6 addresses as part of this mess? last i checked they ignored them entirely (the equivalent set of v6 addresses for blocked cloudflare v4 maps were always unblocked) but idk if this was because they had no idea what ipv6 was or because home internet isps in Russia don't provide v6 service

Actually, you need to put in a customer support request to Amazon if you need a static IP for anything. It's an undocumented feature that can only be turned on for an account by Amazon employees. Annoying as gently caress when you need to connect to some third-party API that works with IP whitelisting.

I mean the article mentions it harvests Facebook accounts, but that wasn't why I linked. It was more of an everything old is new again and user never learn anything ever.

Also, they could enforce 2FA. But seeing that they hand out personal data like it's candy, why would they?

if they mandated that their customers use a 2fa app, those customers might be concerned that the 2fa phone app would also steal their data, and those customers would be absolutely correct
