Am I crazy, but doesn't the video also show another person actually getting caught in the explosion? It comes off like the Onion video with the autistic reporter being concerned about the wellbeing of a train that ran over a person.

The perspective doesn't make it clear, but I think the other person was farther away (most of the way to the curb on that side of the property) than the cop was, and at a more protected angle with the car in between them and most of the fireball.

The actual article only mentions that the residents survived, the driver was arrested and the officers were treated for minor injuries. :shrug:

In an aircraft at altitude generally the oxygen masks are for when the cabin depressurizes, because the partial pressure of O₂ is too low. So you suck almost-pure oxygen out of a tube/bag for a while.

"air at 7mmHg" is not exactly a deadly toxin, as long as you're at getting enough O₂ from somewhere. The masks are not made to keep out toxic gases except by pressure differential but if the plane is on fire and fully pressurized and the O₂ generators are running, CO is probably not the greatest concern.

btw if you want a fun unit of mass try Significant Quantity.

Actually multiple states kind of do. In Texas there�s a yearly stunt driving competition for motorcycle cops, for example. Although it�s more of the �navigate this difficult maze of cones� and less �taunt death�.
