Halfway through, I went to fix us both a coke float.

Plus, he'd left the gate open and there was evil everywhere.

Main problem with MToD now is that is is full of lovely Discovery shows like Fast and Loud.

Has anyone watched this new Netflix show Fastest Car? Wondering if that's worth watching.

I watched the first one and I really liked it up until the end and then I hated it. They spend the whole episode doing backstories on the people and who they are, building it up. Then there's a race to no fanfare and it's sudden and you'll miss it if you blink, and that's it, it's over. The people stories were so engaging that I didn't notice they didn't talk about the cars at all. Nothing about the build, what they were running, how they built it, etc. Maybe some minimal info on racetime decisions, but this isn't a car show. It's a human interest show with some cars in it.

All those shows are poo poo, "hey this week we work on this car here it is as a total basket case" cut to the end of the episode spend generating false drama about the wrong parts being ordered "Oh hey here it is done without any idea of the passing of time or what work was required to get to this point GO TEAM!"

Correct, full episodes are now only on MTOD.

They did keep the same staggered release schedule so episodes still end up free over time, but now you have to watch them through MT's portal.

So they shut down literally the most popular automotive youtube channel in hopes people will jump over.

As soon as I saw the announcement I decided to check out on the shows, I watch YouTube via Android tv and there is no native app for MToD so they made it harder to consume their media that I enjoyed but not enough to sign up for a new streaming platform. I don't think this was the right choice for them, they have to be one of the only content creators moving away from YouTube and it's ease of access.

There are actually quite a number of people trying to develop YouTube competitors, most focused on making life less poo poo for content creators which is an admirable goal. What they tend to forget to do is be better than YouTube for content consumers so there's absolutely no reason for anyone watching content that's currently on YouTube to participate in their alternative platforms.

Motor Trend On Demand is all about solving their internal problems with no regard for consumers, it was failing with YouTube and will continue to fail now that there's no reason to subscribe to Motor Trend on YouTube.

They have fallen from 30M monthly views to 15M:

The app works with chromecast... badly. For example if you want to resume a video then nope start at the beginning and try to find the place you were in. Oh did I mention that if you close the app on your phone it kills the chromecast stream? So yeah you will be starting from the beginning a lot.

I just wish with Roadkill they would rip the band aid off and just turn it into the Finnigan and Angelo show since that is what is slowly becoming anyway.

MTOD is going to be rebroadcasting Eurosport WEC coverage this upcoming season as well as putting it on Velocity. But even then the lack of good Chromecast support makes it not really worth it for me. It's also unclear whether they'll be showing the whole races or just whatever parts Eurosport shows.

Apparently, after the YouTube seed money stopped coming a couple years ago and several changes to ad revenue, they were losing poo poo-tons of money anyway. That's why they changed to MoD-exclusive, hoping to drum up money that way.

I enjoyed it, although it might be a bit too chilled out. It should probably be somewhere in-between this and Mike's manic interruptions in Wheeler Dealers.

It's so beautifully Norwegian to have a hick from Trøgstad who's restoring an old Golf GTI daily drive a Tesla Model S.

I worked for a friend that had a shop called Just Miata for two years and he made a living doing that for quite awhile.

He could have had a TV show too because he was loving bipolar and would throw temper tantrums over nothing, guess why I quit and stopped being his friend :v:

I think LeBlanc was the new guy who most fully understood what made people want to watch Clarkson-era Top Gear in the first place. His main problem was that the writers sometimes seemed to slip into writing his stuff as if he wasn't in fact an American.
