From the new Venom trailer, that shot of the guy going WHO ARE YOU and Brock going WE'RE VENOM is absolutely going to be the last shot of the movie before cutting to black/main title isn't it Also this is my irritating movie moment why come movies now don't have the title at the beginning and do it now at the very end before credits, that's so obnoxious

Calaveron posted:Also this is my irritating movie moment why come movies now don't have the title at the beginning and do it now at the very end before credits, that's so obnoxious So there's actually a mildly interesting explanation for this. The various guilds and unions have contractually obligated requirements for how credit is given to their members. This will vary slightly from production to production. The old convention was to put all the credits at the beginning, and then just have a title card saying "The End" at the conclusion of the film. This is why older movies have really long boring credits sequences at the beginning. It was supposed to be imitating a playbill as if it were a live production. George Lucas was actually fined $250,000 by the director's guild of america because he didn't put his own name in the beginning of Star Wars in 1977. A lot of movies nowadays will just have a title card at the beginning. Many modern films will actually have 2 closing credits sequences because they are obligated to list certain credits twice and with no opening credits, this is the only solution. Independent films can pretty much do whatever they want if they don't have any union involvement.

It changes a fair bit over time, but in the comics Mega-City One has an unemployment rating around 86% and draconian laws against things like sugar and most forms of entertainment that aren't bland and inoffensive. (video games are long banned) Massive amounts of crime as much about something to do as anything else, and citizens resort to some very strange trends to alleviate boredom.

That's something that always annoys me with characters like Reign from Supergirl (not finished the season yet, so only talking in broad strokes because I don't know how it will end, this may happen later) - no one ever calls the characters calling for some alien form of justice out for being just as naive as what they claim the system we have in place is. Just make the point, we tried murdering everyone that broke the law, we don't anymore because it didn't work. We already tried her way, it failed and now with the "softer" laws we have crime rates have dropped significantly over the last few decades.

Episode 3 of the new Lost in Space on Netflix, Judy 3d prints a "torque wrench" but what comes out is just a plain socket wrench, and when she uses it to unscrew a bolt it turns in the wrong direction. So I can't watch the show anymore.

The Marvel films have been doing this for a good while now, cold open with a title card, then double credits at the end. It works for them because the post-credits teaser has become a thing on it's own that people anticipate, so now they've just doubled up on that and every Marvel movie has the standard post-credits scene, then a super secret teaser after the second credits.

I like Lost in Space, but the first few episodes really just have a non-stop onslaught of huge problems rearing their head any time the Robinsons literally try to do anything. I half expected someone to try to make a sandwich that would start a nearby chain effect that would threaten to tear apart their ship.

It harkens back to old-school sci-fi, like the original Lost in Space or Star Trek TOS or Next Gen in that every episode there's some huge new calamity that's going to destroy everything and kill everyone, and by the end of the episode it's been resolved and will never be encountered again. They do add an over arcing plot to tie things together, but it is very "problem of the week".
