Enemy Turn....Enemy Turn....Enemy Turn....Enemy Turn.... Your Turn! The initiative system is good but it's also quite unclear, like the number doesn't seem to be on the portrait of the MechWarrior but only above the mech's themselves. With some other general UI issues, where it the moral listed on screen? I can see something costs 20 moral but can't see on the screen where this is. Heat should be a number also so it's easier to fine tune your strikes. It doesn't zoom to the selected MechWarrior when you click on them. Also if it's the enemies turn 5 times in a row please please just say Enemy Turn once. Also a bunch of UI elements need a mouse over to explain what they mean.

Initiative is pretty straightforward. It goes from 5-1, Lights are 4, Mediums are 3, Heavies are 2. 5 and 1 exist for when you get bonuses and penalties to initiative. So if you have two mechs at 4 and the enemy has two mechs at then you just alternate turns (you can choose which 4 mech you can use first) until all the 4 mechs have taken their turns.

Think I ran into a bug. I finished a mission and managed to get a Dragon but when I saved and exited then came back it was gone? Not in storage or any of my mechbays :(. Also I purchased a Griffin and it also just disappeared, I got charged for it but it's nowhere to be found.

You don't purchase/salvage full mechs, you get mech parts. You need 3 parts of a mech to assemble a full one. Purchasing is always 1 part at a time. Salvaging is 1 part if killed by center torso destroyed, 2 parts if killed by both legs destroyed, 3 parts if headshot kill (this kills the pilot).

That explains the Griffin but I had all 3 Dragon parts. Same variant too the 1N.

I know how initiative works, like I say my issue is with the UI, it doesn't list the initiative on the character portraits only on the mechs themselves. So when it says it's your turn you have to scan about the map for a bit to find the mech who's turn it actually is, the portraits for the active mechs don't seem to highlight or anything like that. It's pretty minor compared to the Enemy Turn...Enemy Turn...Enemy Turn thing but it's a QoL improvement that should be made.

Yup, It was right after a story mission. Oh well I guess the dragon is no huge loss I suppose, yeah guess I'll just have to manual save alot.

so the deal with double heatsinks is that they used to be strictly better than regulars in earlier games, yeah? what's the tradeoff in this iteration?

also, reposting from before: i know pilots are capped on expertise/specialization, but are they capped on skill points as well?

Any doubles you get are unique in that the store wont replace them if damaged. tech isnt there to build new ones. I think its also not a mech level upgrade, as your first 10 are in the engine, and that would require an engine rebuild. so its less upgrade a mech with 11 heat sinks, and under TT rules mech goes from 11 to 22 heat cap, its upgrade that one external engine sink, mech goes from 11 to 12 for same tonnage. marginal increase unless you are running something like a Cat-K2, where your heat cap would go from 20 to 30 with that replacement plan.

Your pilots can have all skills maxed out, like this. its abilities that are limited by expertise and specialty. What you pick for specialty and expert defines their role.
1st skill 8/2 abilities, 2nd skill 8/1 ability, 3rd skill 8, 4th skill 8

The convoy escort mission is some bullshit. The mechs at the end just suicide run, run past your mechs, expose their backs, and snipe half the vehicles in the first round.

PSA: make sure you bargain for a minimum of 3 priority salvage items in every mission. It's entirely within the realm of possibility that you'll have the chance to salvage an entire BattleMech for free at the end of a mission, and you don't want to miss the opportunity to capture, e.g., a Jenner or Firestarter early on just so you can earn a few extra c-bills on the contract.

Played WAY too goddamn much and have had some incredibly scary situations

also it only took a few dead (including dekker, of course) for me to start actually ejecting pilots who are one side torso crit or knockdown from being killed

finally got my first heavy mech like 250 days in, an Orion, and the very first Serious Mission i brought it to it survived with just one side torso and a leg left, but no critical damage on anybody else in the lance at all

had an amazing on of the 'kill the spy' missions where it was a forested hill and all my mechs had jump jets and none of the opfor did but they had a black knight and an orion and my heaviest anything was a griffin so it was just, an INCREDIBLY long nailbiter that i barely won after exhausting all ammunition and resorting to kicks and medium lasers. sadly i have yet to find another black knight to get a third scrap after i legged that one, because it looks AMAZING

Stick an AC/20 in the one ballistic slot and take care to bulwark or vigilance as much as possible and an Orion on your side becomes a nigh invincible threat

just remember to bring along a pilot with at least 5 wounds

really all it is missing is some support weapon slots

The big disadvantage of missiles is that sandpapering. LLs and PPCs and big ACs kinda suck early because they're so hard to mount in numbers that matter, but they make up for it in just completely loving up whatever they do hit.

I sympathize, though, Orions are pretty brutal.
