SUV are 40% of sales
The only cars that sell as well as trucks and suvs are the corolla, mazda3 and hyundai i30. Ford small cars don't sell well here compared to them.

But seriously, are people saying that Ford (or any other company) should continue to produce a low-margin product that isn't selling instead of focusing on the product the market wants?

As others have noted, Ford continues to produce cars elsewhere in the world. If there's another oil shock they're able to bring in smaller, lighter and more fuel efficient vehicles as and when the market for such a vehicle justifies the expense.

Personally, I can't wait for people to work out that the SUV is the new minivan.

Cheer up, I'm sure if ford did the best ever smart phone integration/infotainment system then they might gain some ground in the smaller car market. After all that's the main thing that seems to count with cars these days.

Of course they have the huge hurdle of sucky dealers that ford are known for here, so they may have to improve that too, as well as the near zero marketing they do on lower profit cars.

Dude?
I bought a new Camaro (2.0 4cyl turbo) last week and it's an awesome car, save for one stupid feature I don't understand. From the time between shutting off my car and locking the doors the "parking lights" are illuminated. What are parking lights? Oh those would be the reverse lights. So I park in a parking spot and turn off my car. The lights are tricking people into thinking I'm leaving my spot so they camp out and wait for my spot, only for me to eventually leave my car and walk away.

Why change what a specific light means, GM?

To be fair, those top 3 are ONLY avaliable in turbo diesel, and relatively small turbo diesels too- 2.8L for the Hilux, 3.2L for the Ranger, 2.4L for the triton and all average below 10L/100. We dont get the big fuel guzzling trucks, which is one of the reasons they're so popular.

Their trucks have done this for years. Being a guy who predominantly drives cars smaller than an American football field, it is super unnerving to see a Silverado suddenly flash its reverse lights at you as you drive past it.

I think they call it like "perimeter lighting" or some poo poo and you can turn it off in some layer of their menu system. They should just mount a PA system to the car that yells HERE COMES A SPECIAL BOY.

True, but obviously people want the biggest vehicle they can afford to run is the point. Other thing is people want utility (towing boats, trailers for their lawn mowing business or be garbage people producing a lot of garbage that needs to be taken to the dump), and another thing is commercial enterprises buy more new vehicles than the average personal use buyer. Those two things affect what the USA market sells most of and what is most profitable as well.

Other GM cars did it, too. My mom's Bonneville did it and I see it all the time in Impalas in parking lots. The reverse lights will come on when you unlock it via the fob, as well. Really stupid.

I loving hate this. There is no parking lot etiquette with pedestrians walking behind cars as you're backing out and then when you have cars with their reverse lights on for no loving reason, you can't tell if they just locked/unlocked their doors, or if they decided to shift into reverse and then look at their phone for five minutes, or if they are actually backing up now.

I want to build a car where the key is the main power cutoff, and the ignition is a button, like NASCAR.

Or gently caress it, make a Cup car street legal with a key for the big red master power switch. Can you fit the lights from a real Fusion into the NASCAR thing with the same name? Windshield wipers are handled, that's an option for road-course cars (which you'd obv be using as a base for a streetable version, because you might want to turn right.) Would it be possible to title said car in Texas, and if so, would the manufacturer be listed as Ford or Stewart-Haas?

Your best option would be to go the Roadkill Nascarlo route, and drop a old body onto the frame and title it under the donor car's vin. Definitely not 100% legal, but not terribly hard to get away with in a lot of places.

I don't give a rat's rear end about the Camaro, but that means in a few years I'll have another decent RWD donor engine for my AE86, or one of my RX-7 shells (sorry RADL). 275HP! 295 lb.ft. 0-60 in 5.7s in the porker it comes in. Most other 4-bangers have to be adapter from FWD, meaning you have to figure out the transmission, accessory issues, piping issues...
Basically, my choices for modern engines were the Mustang Ecoboost, S2000, Tacoma, and I guess some BMWs (no thanks), if I wanted to stick with a 4 cylinder. A few V6s would be fun, but if you're going there, the 1UZ/2UZ fit. More or less.
I welcome another turbo-4 RWD option.

Yeah, but I was thinking of one-upping Nascarlo and putting lights on a real Cup car. Somebody got a sprint car titled as a Model A with the only Model A part being the horn, so clearly it can be done.

Well, I don't know what other people are saying, but I'm just going to throw out there that maybe the people who make up 'the market' could be turned into either Soylent Green, or perhaps some kind of fuel source for turbo hatchbacks.

Yea, it really depends on where you live honestly. In Washington, as long as you live outside the greater Seattle area, they don't have any type of inspection at all. Show up with a title and you can walk out with plates. Hell even in Seattle, if its 25 years old, you can do the same thing. Of course thats just to get the plates, piss off the wrong cop and your car is going into impound.

Don't bother with the F20/F22 out of the S2000, they are expensive as gently caress used, have nothing in the low-midrange, are not cheap to make more than 210-220whp, and more parts are becoming NLA every year. Go with a stock K24, or a K24 with a K20 head. You'll make more power and torque everywhere for a third of the price.
You can also look at the Duratec or turbo Ecotecs.

Actually, if you scroll down on the page you posted, in the list that aggregrates the car companies, not the brands, General motors is outselling Fomoco by a little over 20% ytd. While chevy may make up the bulk of gm sales in the US gmc and buick sell a decent amount of cars as well.

No luckily that is just dirt. There’s more dirt and brake dust inside the spokes so when it gets wet it runs down like that. It’s the same with all the wheels when they get dirty.

The problem is the bulge and split in the sidewall, and there’s another bulge elsewhere in the same tyre. The fronts are worn to the level that I can’t ideally just replace the one tyre, so that’s two runflats I’m having fitted this morning.
