In a wild turn of events the Vikings have probably had the worst draft in the NFCN so far. NFCN gonna be a shootout.

the only solace I can take in the Vikings bad draft is that most anyone that take would be for depth anyway. G is the only position that needs a clear upgrade that they could have gotten a starter and the missed their chance at that in the first round. If they take Hurst in the fourth round, i’ll come round to the draft, though. e: or Nyheim Hines. WHOOPS fucked around with this message at 12:33 on Apr 28, 2018 |

The changes made to the Bears offense in one offseason seem amazing on paper. Now it is up to Nagy and Trubisky to make it happen. I’m really excited at the potential. Bears desperately need pass rush, very desperately. Pace is doing well in the draft the last couple of season, and hopefully it works out.

4.49 40 isn't exactly blazing but it's fast enough to be a WR in the NFL. His agility numbers look really good, he's much more agile than Cobb, which is kinda PupsOfWar posted:can he catch? gently caress no https://twitter.com/ByRyanWood/status/990285837832245248

I like it, any contending team always needa s few good hyphenated-name guys imo plus he played for the national championship runner-up USF Bulls, good pedigree if he ends up beating out the other fringe receivers for a roster spot, maybe try him at returner for a bit (I know jaire can return, but prefer not to get the shiny new corner beaten up if avoidable)

I'm surprised Maurice Hurst dropped to the fifth round. I figure with the drop off in talent everyone was talking about after the top of the second at least one team would have taken a chance with a late 3rd or 4th rounder.

The last drafts I felt very positive about were 2014 and 2009, so that bodes well. That we snagged an extra first-rounder out of it is also ridiculously great. I'm reading that next year's draft class is very strong for edge rushers too. I do wonder what's going to happen at WR though. There's like 13 receivers on the team now, and we're probably not going to carry any more than seven, and most likely only six receivers. Preseason cutdowns are going to be really interesting to follow this season. Expand the loving rosters already.

I think identifying a few key positions and then drafting a bunch of guys for those is a real good idea. Realistically, you hope to hit on one of your 3 picks. If you do better you've got depth and trade bait. If you have needs at 5 positions and try to hit them all you're taking a ton of risk on too few picks. As far as Gute's actual draft, it is awesome to have 2 1sts next year. At the trade deadline either of those could be used to shore up the team for the playoffs.

happy with this draft for the green bay packors two good corner boys an ilb who doesn't seem great at tacking or block sheddling and seems to have...not great ball instincts, but is athletic and smart enough to hopefully develop in the rover-type role while blake martinez grinds it up in the middle (death to jake ryan) a modest insurance policy on the o-line a fifth round punter and a long snapper for some reason? (I have not been paying attention to whether new punt team specialists were needed, but I guess they were) bunch of WRs with the physical ability to present mismatches if any of them learn to run routes and catch, which we've got three shots at. bears good draft lions okay draft vikings not terrific draft but yall already won free agency

If you can consistently pin the opponents deep in their territory then you're giving the Packers defense much more room to work with to shut down opposing offenses. I love the pick. As for long snapper, the Packers have been trying to replace Brett Goode for a couple seasons now but long snapper is a really hard position to replace. It doesn't help Goode keeps getting injured. Taybor Pepper didn't work out, they're hoping Hunter Bradley does.

outside of Mike Hughes in the return game and the kicker, i can’t imagine the Vikings will get much in the way of impact performances from this draft until 2019. all high upside guys which is only disappointing in the sense that they badly need a guard.

Honestly I think that speaks more to the strength of your current roster than it does to Spielman's drafting capabilities or anything like that. The Vikings are stacked to poo poo, it makes sense that their draft would be looking a little bit more to the future. Green Bay and Chicago had massive deficiencies, that they were able to address them in the draft makes their drafts look much better in comparison.

yeah it's hard to see what immediate help the vikings would have needed having addressed quarterback for the foreseeable future great pass-catchers good line question mark at RB until they know how dalvin's injury heals up, but you can get good production out of backup-tier RBs with good blocking. murray's a way overqualified backup anyway generally stacked D other than maybe the edge rush anyhoo it made sense for them to go for depth PupsOfWar fucked around with this message at 05:36 on Apr 29, 2018 |
