Cowboys traded a 6th round pick for Tavon Austin, which sure is a thing that happened. I don't see it working out, but reportedly they plan to use him as a pass-catching RB and not a WR similar to Lance Dunbar

Ironically enough the Rams signed Lance Dunbar to be a slot WR/Jet Sweep/Change of Pace back last year and Lance got hurt and Tavon had to play that role. Tavon isn't good though.

I was reading around and came across this forums post from 2014 which is very, very funny in retrospect:

http://sonsofsamhorn.net/index.php?threads/if-he-was-2-inches-taller-vs-planet-theory.3061/

quote:

Bridgewater (QB, Louisville), Verrett (CB, TCU), Aaron Donald (DT, Pittsburgh), to some extent Jimmie Ward (S, Northern Illinois) and WR Odell Beckham (LSU) and Paul Richardson (Colorado) are favorites of guys reviewing tape who don't care much about size, Combine results, or whether a guy "looks good in jeans."

The other philosophy is Bill Parcells' "planet theory," that there are only a handful of men on the planet with size and the skill / athleticism to play in the NFL. That would point to more conventional prospects like Louis Nix (NT, Notre Dame), Ra'Shede Hageman (DL, Minnesota) and Stephon Tuitt (DL, Notre Dame), Blake Bortles (QB, UCF), Stanley Jean-Baptiste (CB, Nebraska) and Keith McGill (CB, Utah).

What do you guys think? Does Moneyball not apply to football because height and weight are real factors? Are teams making too much of who looks good in underwear and not placing enough emphasis on who can play? Do you take the most skilled player, or the best raw material that you can mold?

We come spinning out of nothingness, scattering stars like dust.

There are a significant number of Colts fans that are still mad that they let Peyton go and boo'd the draft pick of Nelson because it's Luck's fault that he gets sacked and OL is mostly meaningless. They point to the draft picks that Grigson spent on OL, which of course means nothing because Grigson is dumb and couldn't even draft players for the position he played. And of course "Peyton never had a good OL" at the same time as they argue for Saturday and Glenn for the hall of fame.

Andrew Luck was a great pick who is really good when healthy.

It’s just that the Colts completely mismanaged everything on their roster and maybe ruined him forever.

Its a shame that both Luck and RG3 should have propelled their teams to divisional dominance for a few years at least and yet here we are with both teams essentially hospitalising them
