Some people play on tablets :(

I wish they'd set up some sort of save sync system so you could move between tablet and PC. The saves are interchangeable (at least between PC and Android) so I don't see why they wouldn't. It'd make the process of using EEKeeper on an android save a bit easier.

Cloud Saves already work really well on Steam, I use them to swap between my Home PC and work Laptop with zero issues. Though I assume that the saves are hosted by STEAM and thus its not just a case of ticking the "android yes" box.

That's not something you can do with Android apps though is it?

You could probably throw the save files on Google Drive or Dropbox or something but you'd have to move them around manually and it'd be a pain in the rear end.

I checked with my IWD on Google Play and on Steam and it doesn't work. It can't be too hard to implement though, unless Steam / Valve host the saved games. If BeamDog themselves host the cloud saves it seems like an easy thing to patch in.

How much of the Tweaks / Fixes modding stuff still applies to BGEE/BG2EE?

I don't think I was being very clear with that. I mean, do I still need to worry about stuff like getting the un-nerfed THAC0 tables and fixed Grandmastery for BG2, or do the Enhanced Editions incorporate that kind of stuff?

I think the fix pack is mostly included in the EE, but almost none of the tweak pack. I'm almost positive Un nerfed THAC0 isn't included, and I know the new spell tables and druid xp aren't included.

If all you want is the stuff from the tweak pack then that seems excessive. Tweak pack has been compatible with EE for years now.

The BG2EE manual states that you get an extra 1/2 APR with Grandmastery. I just remember that that wasn't the case in BG2, all you got was +1 damage, but that component still exists in the Tweaks Anthology. Hence my confusion.

Looking back at the THAC0 table stuff, I understand better what the deal is with that, but I'm not sure how egregiously broken allowing non-warriors to continue gaining THAC0 is in the game where everyone gets epically busted powers after 20 anyway.

I guess it'd be most useful for thief/mages, most other non fighter classes aren't making a ton of melee attacks.

The BG1 manual said one thing about Grandmastery, the game code another, giving a full +1 attack at the fifth pip, but you couldn't reach it without removing the xp cap, so it wasn't a big deal. Then it got nerfed to hell and back in BG2. I don't remember how exactly Icewind Dale handled Grandmastery, but I do remember that I thought it was a fair advantage for fighters to have to distinguish themselves from rangers (who got pseudo-dual wielding) and paladins (who got Pale Justice).

To answer part of the question though, EEs have the grandmastery bit of the tweakpack rolled in, so GM gives an extra 1/2 APR compared to specialisation/mastery/high mastery, as well as the +1 damage that it gave in vanilla BG2 over high mastery.

I thought the Tweak pack gave an entire +1 APR for reaching Grand Mastery. Or was that another community fix?

You could be right, it's been like four years since I used the tweak pack. I do seem to remember beamdog mentioning a middle ground somewhere

According to the Tweak Anthology's readme (written I think with non-EE BG2 in mind), this is correct.

I would use that for both installation and save data directories because of how EEKeeper reads stuff right? When I do that, I get a "Can't Find Chitin.key" error.

Currently it is this:

Installation directory:
C:\Users\Laptop\Documents\Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition Trilogy\

User Save Data Directory:
C:\Users\Laptop\Documents\Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition Trilogy\

e: I fixed it by searching for chitin.key on my computer, which it found one in an old BigWorldMod backup folder, plopping it in the EET folder, and bam it works?

e2: but now EE Keeper crashes on loading a save. Hmm.

I'm going to double post because I have a seperate question, I decided to back up my saves and do a clean install, do I need to run Big World twice, once for BG1EE and once for BG2EE if I want to do EET properly or do I just select the option for Baldur's Gate II: EE / Enhanced Edition Trilogy and point it to my install directories for both and go to town?

It's this one. Installing Big World in EET mode will install everything it needs to for BGEE first, then copy the resulting files over to BG2EE, then install EET and your BG2EE mods.

Something odd happened in my last playthrough of Siege of Dragonspear. I picked up Dynaheir at the start, but swapped her and Minsc out later to collect Edwin. After the camp moved to the next location, though, she somehow mysteriously died. Her body was permanently lying near the bonfire where the party members gather, never despawning, never mentioned by anyone else. I figured this hiccup might iron out at some point, but nope, she was dead for the whole campaign.

This made the epilogue kind of hilarious, as I was greeted at the end by Khalid, Jaheira, Imoen, Minsc, and Dynaheir's corpse. It's created this alternative narrative for me in which Dynaheir died way prior to the start of BG2 and Minsc had just been toting her body around and pretending she was alive, and everyone just went along with it. :stare:

now that i think about it, the other companions never really bring up her dying in the dungeon...

Does anyone get crashes with Ascalons Braegar/BG1 Mini Quests & Encounters and EET in Winthrop's inn, specifically when finishing conversations? I assume this has to do either with the dialog or the journal entry using non-English characters (something which apparently causes a CTD in EET).

Somehow everywhere but that specific instance appears to be fine so far. I mean it's not a big deal but it's kinda annoying, plus I'm not sure if it's not going to happen somewhere else as well.

e:
Alternatively gently caress the Enhanced Editions for breaking support for non-native characters and never fixing it. It seems to be a fairly common issue based on googling.

At least for BG1QE it should be fixed now, but as a heads up it doesn't appear to be fixed in the BWS version yet, as of yesterday.

Minsc trying to come to terms with Dynaheir's untimely demise by using her corpse as a large sock-puppet much to the horrified dismay of the remainder of the party is now canon.

I don't see why they shouldn't? The problem is that only characters used in the specific language of your EE work, despite the EEs themselves being available in e.g. German (the issue with Braegar) or French (the issue where the correct English spelling of naïve would break the game). It's an issue that's been known for at least 3 years now based on bug reports I can find, and the devs never cared to fix it.

This is an issue in new mods as much as it is in old ones too, just modders learned to avoid it now I guess.
