"The only way that I can see to deploy this much financial resource is by converting my Amazon winnings into space travel. That is basically it," Bezos says in an interview with Axel Springer CEO Mathias Döpfner, published by Business Insider on Saturday.

Ok, so I think...I think he's saying that the questions about firing Comey are unjust, because he can fire anyone in the executive branch at any time for any reason. And that asking what the President was thinking when he did this is outrageous, because it doesn't matter what he was thinking? Maybe?

Like, it's mostly word salad, and it's certainly not true (yes he can fire someone in the executive branch, but doing so to stop an investigation is obstruction, motive absolutely matters), but I think that's what is trying to be conveyed here.

I know Trump hates CNN, but I'm surprised he isn't repeating what Dershowitz was saying last night. I don't remember it exactly, but it was something along the lines of how Mueller can't subpoena Trump to answer questions that Mueller already knows the answer to just to see if Trump lies.

I haven't read about how to approach this problem. Frequent periodical resets or what? Honestly that's probably a good idea for several other purposes as well

nobody really thinks about it because its way easier to assume a perfectly spherical citizen, even though its why things like stalin rising to power are both inevitable and not really the fault of the system he overthrew

it needs a deep dive into human incentive structures and how to exploit those and/or work around them with a real cynical view of humanity and a real optimistic view of what can be done in spite of all that if the vileness of our nature is respected

true but FL in particular has an enormous amount of boomers who consciously chose to retire there because endless suburban sprawl makes them comfortable and they spend the rest of their lives trying to convince their children that no they didn't move to hellworld
