Yes I'm all caught up, I love what he's done with so little and he makes me want a Tig machine, his videos make it look so easy! Also how many dogs does he have, I count 4 different ones so far

Get a tig. gently caress if I had a stable life and home I'd get one. I was looking at a multi system before but I've had to sell all my workshop equipment off and couch surf, so no chance for me. I watched up to episode 11 last night when I couldn't sleep. Some of it is funny, but other times I couldn't care less about a turbo diesel patrol with an ice tray. Lots of better projects out there even in AI but the goons don't have tigs.

Hey can I get channel recommendations going? The recent exodus of many different content providers from YouTube because of their policy update has left my subscriptions pretty barren. Yes I am talking about more than just Motortrend. A few channels I'd recommend, maybe a surprise to no one, is Bad Obsession Motorsport, Finnegan's Garage, and EVO.

Clickspring is pretty great for mechanical machine shop porn. Hand Tool Rescue which is what it says on the tin. Stumbled upon shurap who's a Ukrainian dude who makes Damascus out of random steel whatever. No talking, just forging & grinding and rad blades at the end.

Cold War Motors. Sick Cars for a Sick Planet. If super low budget rescue of ancient junkers about to be crushed from the icy grave of Albertan junkyards is your jam, you will love this channel. Sometimes he does more extensive restorations. This doesn't mean the end result is going to look like a showroom car, but they're still amazing projects. The whole series on the Fraser is great, and the Citroen SM is shaping up to be even better.

I watched the newest one last night and I'm in awe of his rust repairs (cutting out, welding, bending/shrinking, dent repair), huge pity he shows none of that on camera or any sheet metal workshop tools he must have, but you get to see he can repair properly- not just make a door out of bog/bondo. Most of the vids are just stoned/drinking and loving around or dog parts though.

There is no way he's not either a pro or spent a very long time being a pro, and not at a Carstar chop-shop. The Model A restoration series has some good fab work and he takes it a little slower than normal (it's hard to hold a camera and bang out panels at the same time). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igsr-0-E910 The FJ45 patch panel video is slower paced too, and has some really cool tricks for lining poo poo up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U12eJgooDsg Nothing can compare to his Easy Rust Repair video, though. Don't get me wrong, I'm not new to the channel and I have seen all his vids. I'm just saying you see more goofing around than skills in most vids, but they definitely have skills. I've watched every CWM since a goon posted the lada ep years ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Il1IHduNBlw That's just loving around and it was cool and got me subscribed. But 10min putting nut eze on a starter for laughs and then camera cuts while mad skills done on the citroen sheetmetal was a shame Fo3 fucked around with this message at 16:59 on May 1, 2018 |

I would definitely recommend bigclivedotcom, if you enjoy watching a campy Scotsman pull apart cheap trashy electronics (in some cases actual serious deathtraps), figuring out how they work, making entertaining modifications to them and occasionally hurting himself. Also trashy booze and insights into the world of stage/show electrical work. His brother Ralfy runs the best whisky channel on Youtube. Abom79 is one of my favourite machining guys on youtube. His way of explaining poo poo is just so easy to follow and listen along too, and he does 90% repair work rather than creating stuff from scratch, which is right up my alley. And hes a manual machinist too.

So goons, I have a white car; should i get a black sticker to put onto the boot lid between the tail light and licence plate, or a white sticker to put on the rear window?

I never knew anything about shapers until I got drawn into abom79's rebuild; does a great job of describing machine work, and job shop stuff which has a ton of very practical insights. Stephan Gottswinter has some amazing videos; mostly rebuilding and improving his own (and others) machines and tools. Hand scrape and rebore a brand new rotary table so it's good to a few tenths of a thou? Mechanical Insanity. Tom Lipon (oxtoolco) is absolutely nuts about metology and does really neat design analysis; dude has a ton of experience and works at the (insane, massive) Berkeley labs facility. Edge Precision does some incredible stuff, but on a big mazak (mostly) and gets into CNC programming, making his own tooling and it still comes off with just as much operator finess as the manual guys. I've ridden maybe two miles on a dirt bike and other than that all my two wheel experience is human powered. I remember wiping out like that a few times on my bike when I was younger but it had a nearly bald back tire from kid me liking to skid to a stop so I have no idea how that compares. wolrah fucked around with this message at 02:24 on May 15, 2018 |
