I honestly wonder what could have if Austin was drafted last year and instead of coming in with massively high expectations, poo poo coaching and being the only offensive option on the team, he was instead drafted last year, had great coaching and didn't have to be the only guy.

I like Scales and Perez the best out of all UDFA guys. I don't think they will carry 3 QBs, but Perez can probably make it on the PS for awhile.

Full list of 49er UDFAs:

CB Tarvarus McFadden, Florida State
WR Steven Dunbar, Houston
RB Jeffery Wilson, North Texas
TE Ross Dwelley, San Diego
OT Jamar McGloster, Syracuse
C Alan Knott, South Carolina
C Coleman Shelton, Washington
DE Patrick Choudja, Nevada
DT Niles Scott, Frostburg St.
CB Emmanuel Moseley, Tennessee
DB Corey Griffin, Georgia Tech

They currently have 9 spots free on their roster.

Edit: One late signing: QB Jack Heneghan, Dartmouth. I expect him to be with the team until precisely the moment of the first roster cut-down.

the fifth year option is guaranteed for injury only, and Armstead has played just 30 games in three years. It's a big swing betting on his health.

Dante Pettis burning a Rutgers guy isn't a big deal. Dude got tons of targets cause John Ross was drafted and the other major WR Chico McClatcher went down with a leg injury half the season. Then again, Jimmy G is a much better QB than Jake Browning soooo

Yeah, I honestly didn't think Pettis would be much of a WR his first few years in the NFL, and was basically a return specialist pick (since the 49ers haven't had a decent return man since Ginn).

I'm a big fan of Matt Waldman's skill evaluations, though. It's making me watch more of Pettis and rethink my assumptions.

Not a surprise, but still sad. Dude was a baller. Hope this isn't Kam's fate too. Two injuries like this in a season? Of all the rotten luck.

I see the Hawks as an 8-8 team this year, they spent a ton of capital to make a push last year and it didn't work. They need another year to fill the roster. Who knows though, if they can get an actual run game the offense could be good again.

Hawks were 2 kicks away, in a non-fanboy sense, from 11-5 and getting bounced from the playoffs last year. I don't really think they got worse. I think this roster can co.pete for 11-5 range again tho with the new.coaching and new core players who need to show up now (penny) it is anyone's guess how the hawks will do. I'm pretty excites
