Yes, for us please ask for help. It's really taken seriously and is more of a good reflection on you than bad. The only time I've seen it weird was a guy lost his clearance and was made a BM and made Chief the next cycle because he was a badass to begin with. BMC is so much cooler than what he would've been.

The counselors as well as the other medical professionals are really looking out for the best possible way to help you, not just to get you through the cycle but to see to it that you're going to improve your life. They've got your best interest at heart. The dual-diagnosis program I was in after I went to my DAPA was awesome.

From meeting him a year and a half ago, he seemed like a good guy so, happy to see this. Although he didn't seem to like my idea of doing MOBS to ships in a similar way that DIRSUP guys coming from Georgia, Fallon, or ONI worked. That disappointed me since he's from the IWC world and should be all about that.

It's not like the MCPON is going to do anything other than give public support to official Navy policies regardless of his personal beliefs.

Yeah but, as you and everyone knows, even if a senior leader doesn't agree with policy they can make enough obtuse statements to look like they're towing the line but you know they aren't.

I had been praying for a Battletech crossover with my Naval Career. Not what I was hoping for, but I'll take it.

I couldn't see a civvy questions thread so apologies if this is the wrong place.

I'm trying to get an understanding of the type/scope/duration of missions a batallion vs a company of Marines would be sent on.

It's for some Clancy-esque fiction I'm writing and it doesn't really matter if the details are correct (hell knows it didn't bother Clancy) but I'd rather get it right. I know it grates when poo poo about your job is wrong but knowing a trusting public could be taking it as fact.

It is good that you came to the Navy thread for a Marine question, as the Marines are a sub division of the Navy and get all of their funding from the Navy.

I admit, I didn't see the dedicated Marines thread. I was skimming looking for megathreads with loads of pages, brain didn't register the one with 3 pages, so I assumed you guys had rolled it into here.

Should have looked harder, sorry. I'll move the question there.

Information Warfare Marines are cool and good. All other Marines just stood in lines an hour before chow stared, filled up the gym constantly, and hosed under HMMWVs. 1/10 would not recommend Gator Navy.

From my very limited time in the same place with Marines, if you got more than four people standing somewhere, Marines would start forming a line behind you. They'll stand in line for no reason.

We're they crypto/intel officers? A few folks I went through class with seemed like they might hang near the spectrum and all of them were in one of those communities.

At the place I work, we routinely screen and select "wall walker" semi-autists from the CT community. Mostly CTN and CTR. Put them in a little box with computer and equipment, let them tip and tap away. Very special people.

If you’ve never met an autist chief you just haven’t been around much. I’ve known nukes, ETs, ITs, CTs, ISs, FCs, and many more that were absolutely on the spectrum.

Sounds good to me, i'll have to try to get in on that. Just finished CTN A school on my way to san diego now!! Although I feel like I was fairly normal among the people at corry I really liked a previous job that they just left me to it.

Hopefully our system continues to work as intended and push those people towards et it etc. I know I've met a couple of ITs who I thought, "I'd feel safer about our Network if you could tell me what a Linux was and why you think it's better than religion."

Sorry I missed you otherwise I would supply you with what you need.

If you got the time I'd drive to Westport and go on a charter boat for rockfish. I like the Ranger myself. Good skipper. Around a $100 and they supply everything.

Heading to Japan on AT this summer. What's the best solution for cell phone?

Hekk
Oct 12, 2012

'smeper fi

Google's Project Fi would be the easiest way to have overseas coverage almost anywhere in the world. Otherwise you can try taking an unlocked phone and trying to do prepaid with one of the big 3 cell providers but Japan has archaic requirements for cell phone registration and you might run into trouble not having Japanese bank account if you try somewhere in town not directly next to a us mil base.
