Can the US regain its world standing if the next president just outright says the last guy was a moron?

Didn’t republicans do the same to Obama with the Iran deal? Say that the next admin can back out?

We can regain some of it, yeah. But most of the damage is done. We've proven to everybody else that we can be just as stupid as the rest of the world.

A non-trivial amount of people in the US seriously think that we are the aggrieved party with regards to Iran. Until the brain worms finally take them, there isn't much chance at a lasting, meaningful rapproachment.

I've wondered about this, how would Europe react if we pulled funding of NATO and Russia became resurgent? Would it be worth it for them to be able to start ignoring us? Have nukes made all this moot?

Yeah there's plenty of damage being done just to the self image of a good bit of the country let alone how people in other parts of the world see us. This is way beyond electing Bush twice. 9/11 dispelled my young notions the the CIA was just like Mission Impossible and the Trump election dispelled my belief that my country was -mostly- filled with rational, empathetic people.

Same. We gotta figure out a variant of quiverfull ideology that'll appeal to liberals.

I don't think this is an uncommon view either, of all the people I was close with in high school 15 years ago the first one to have a kid was last year.

I feel weird about adoption. I have no basis for what I’m about to say, but will that same parental connection be there if I adopt a baby? Not on their end, but on mine. I’m not sure if I would ever really feel like an adopted child is my child, and I don’t think having that thought in the back of my mind is fair to the child.

Again, I have no basis for anything I just said other than how I feel now, a 30 year old who still forgets to brush his teeth before bed sometimes.

This is probably something that everyone who adopts says at some point or anther.
