Finally, a good replacement for the Death Cult Assassins in 40K - if only it was a good game! Not a great fan of that heavy being given a minigun (Roto cannon?), but maybe I just dislike man-portable miniguns.

So I'm looking to pick up a 2nd Blood Bowl team. The LGS is starting a league and waives the entry fee if you buy something BB related. I currently have Skaven and am debating between Orks and Grots. Secret Weapons seem fun, but not sure if I want another super fragile team.

Why not both? Orks with a Troll and a Goblin. Throw a Goblin every game regardless of whether you need to. Then if you want to play Goblins, you already have a team. Simples.

I know they're not on your list, but both Dwarves and Chaos have everything you need in the box, except their big'uns. So you won't be waiting on/buying expansion players in resin. Chaos is a bollock to play early on mind you, and everyone hates playing against Dwarves from what I can tell.

dwarves are also kinda boring to play but the forge world death roller sculpt is p awesome  compared to the one from the 90s i grew up playing against  otoh goblins are fun as hell to play even though you won’t win a lot since they’re really unreliable and everything’s a crazy longshot and their new secret weapons sculpts are excellent too

Go for orcs first - you should be able to get them cheaper on eBay due to people dining half the base set. They aren't fragile, so you'll have a decent team for a while. After a while, get the goblins. Note that you can play teams of combined orcs, goblins, and Skaven, so consider that when you're painting.
