i love the music in Morrowind. i remember when it was 2002, and i had a new computer, and i had illegally downloaded a pirated copy of Morrowind from the Something Awful Direct Connect Hub, the sadchub. when the game started the music was so good and i loved it and i stopped going to class.

i also really like the music from the original A Boy and His Blob. i think it would be neat to have in real life a blob that changed shape depending on what sort of jelly bean you fed him. especially in 2018, where we have more flavors of jelly bean than at any previous point in history. when i die, i would have a jelly bean made out of myself, and then someone would feed it to the blob, and it would become me. in this way i would live forever.

When it comes to game soundtracks, I'll always have a soft spot for the Atari version of International Karate:

And Amiga's Superfrog, especially the "Ancient" level:

I can see a through line in my life between THPS into being in hardcore punk bands

Blessed be the forgers of iron

for me the list of best soundtracks is

-Thunder Force IV
-Equinox (a kinda bad but certainly atmospheric SNES game with music by Tim Follin)
-Streets of Rage II
-CSOTN
-Tempest 2000 on the Atari Jaguar

I don't really care about game soundtracks post PS1 though and for some reason that seems to shock everyone

Earthbound has the best soundtrack. "But didn't Earthbound just steal all its best parts from some of the most brilliant works of classic rock and Rick Ocasek??" You may be asking. The answer to that question is: "Yes. And that is why it is the best video game soundtrack."

Solstice (the prequel for NES) has maybe the best title screen music of any NES/SNES-era video game.

Best video game soundtracks huh?

- Undertale
- NieR: Automata
- Persona 5

Not to say that I have no love for the older stuff, but those 3 are incredible.

Oh if we're only talking about SNES/Genesis soundtracks.
Off the top of my head I can think of 3 SNES/Genesis era soundtracks that really set the mood for their games.

- Shadowrun (both the SNES and Genesis versions)
- A little known game called 'Rings of Power' for the Genesis. An early (and kinda bad really) effort by an obscure company called Naughty Dog.

I owned a copy of Way of the Warrior on 3DO, Naughty Dog's game right after that. It wasn't good but it had charm.

The soundtrack of that was most of the songs from White Zombie's La Sexorcisto: Devil Music, Vol. 1 so if you like that album it could be the best soundtrack

It really steams my clams that Sega keeps making those garbage tier Genesis minis and doesn't seem interested in making a full on SNES Mini level machine with care.

Genesis is such an underappreciated console with so many awesome games.

My dream machine would come pre-loaded with

SOR 1-3
Sonic 1-3 and Knuckles
Mean Bean Machine
Golden Axe 1-3
Gunstar Heroes
Toejam and Earl
Castlevania Bloodlines
Contra Hard Corps
Street Fighter 2
Mortal Kombat 1-3
Earthworm Jim 1-2
Phantasy Star 4
Shinobi 3
Rocket Knight Adventures
Dynamite Headdy
Aladdin
Strider
Like at least 3 Shoot Em Up's
Ristar
TMNT
Land and World of Illusion
Alien Soldier
Road Rash 1-2
NBA Jam
Desert,Jungle,Urban Strike
