There's also no such thing as "mental health records," the march for our lives folks just want cops to have access to your complete medical history on a whim, like looking up your vehicle registration. Also they wanted more cops in schools, which is great, because they're used 99% of the time to hassle non-white students and look for drugs.

why should gun manufacturers be sued for someone shooting someone with a gun they made? That's like suing a car company for someone intentionally running people over with a car

cuz their products are designed only to kill people and they literally directly profit off mass murder events and, well, frankly gently caress 'em

I was at a City Council meeting in Wilmington, DE. I guess it was "kids day" or some poo poo, because kids were up there discussing their policy ideas. One eight year old babby chud said he wanted to arm teachers, and everyone applauded lol

I whispered to some people I know that he was a baby chud and they looked at me in horror that I dared to dispense with :decorum: and say something vaguely rude and out of earshot.

They may run on those things, but they're gonna win on vague promises of solving racism quickly and easily, while not addressing the underlying structural issues that perpetuate racism in any way, shape, or form.

Supply chain liability. They could supply guns to outlets that have a particularly high rate of transfer to the illegal market. As an example in other industries, there are ongoing lawsuits concerning how liable corporations such as Nestle and Costco should be for products manufactured with child slavery. I think that the special protections for the gun industry are too broad if it means immunity from lawsuits such as those.

a general reminder that this is expressly over an incident in which a dude murdered his mother and stole her guns. suing the manufacturer is literally the dumbest loving response to that.

if there was some way to open the NRA up to lawsuits every time some disaffiliated privileged failson hit his limit break all over his classmates, id be more in favor of that than suing Smith and Dumbshit, but that seems like even more of a gray area

Maybe we should hold the police, DAs, and judges criminally and civilly liable if too many gun stores in their jurisdiction are breaking the law without consequence.
