A friend and I started playing this and it's been pretty fun, I picked up a 3 month subscription so we could do some of the DLC bits and I now have 5000 funbux to spend on stuff. Assuming I'm going to have a subscription for as long as I'm playing (so the DLCs don't need to be purchased), is there anything particularly good to spend the crowns on? or should I feel free to blow it on costumes and dyes

If you're not spending crowns on pretty princess dress-up you're doing it wrong.

After that, it's pretty much a question of 'do you want costumes or do you want house decorating?' Keep in mind that with the outfit system, you can design your character's look with any armor pieces and weapons as long as you know the motifs, whereas the costumes are one cohesive look (and possibly a hat too, depending on costume). However, the costumes are unique looks so if you want a wedding dress or a suit or a bowler hat or whatever, you can't make them via motifs, you have to buy them with your crowns. Houses, on the other hand, require you to learn recipes and craft, or else buy crafted items, to fill your house with all the various poo poo you may need/want. Numerous goons have houses with all the essentials you may need, like crafting stations and whatnot, so housing is really for taking pride in your decorating.

Is there a way to get the "civilian clothes" when stealing loaded up in the outfit station, so one of my characters can look like Sammy Civilian instead of one of Sauron's kid cousins? I'm also trying to decorate my house without using too much funbux, but sometimes it's easier to just crown purchase something.

The price for buying Crowns outright and getting them as being part of your sub is pretty close to being even. Being subbed also gives you access to all the DLC (excepting the big Chapters like ESO Morrowind and Summerset). Being subbed also gives you the Glorious Crafting Bag and a few other nice benefits. Then when the DLC train runs out just drop your sub and since you've been buying access to it as the time goes on you can let your sub lapse and keep access to all the content.

How can I make a little money for expenses like bag space and player housing in the game? I've made around 2 million gold over the course of my WoW career from crafting and playing the auction house so that was my first thought, but I can't seem to get a grasp on the multiple guild based auction houses. Prices for crafting materials also seem to vary wildly from the spot checking I've done.

Prices for crafting materials also seem to vary wildly from the spot checking I've done. #1 lucrative thing you can do in the early game is steal. The ships in Daggerfall are probably the single best stealing spot as there are no NPCs to spot you, and you're right by an outlaw's refuge. Haggling (Thieves' Guild skill line) increases the amount of money you get from fencing stolen goods (up to 10%) and Trafficker (Legerdemain skill line) increases the number of fence transactions you can have per day—just one skill point increases this from 50 to 110. https://us.tamrieltradecentre.com/pc/Trade Join a trading guild if you haven't already, look up what stuff is going for here, and price your stuff competitively. The biggest trading guilds have membership fees and/or sales quotas and it is not really worth it unless you like playing a game that feels like a second job. Try to get into Scheming Skeever Imports or (sigh) Kitty Rainbow Dash when they have vacancies, and I'm sure there are other good ones if you ask around. Divine Design Alliance (awesome housing guild with weekly contests and stuff) has a guild trader for at least a week or two every month, and they're easy to get into. The biggest moneymakers I've found are: 1. Purple jewelry from popular sets like Necropotence or Silks of the Sun. I anticipate all jewelry prices to tank soon because of jewelry crafting, though. 2. Master writs. Not worth as much as they used to be, but you can still get like 750-1000 gold per voucher depending upon how difficult they are to make. 3. Purple furniture plans. You can get a random one for 25 master writ vouchers, and I've sold some of the Redguard ones for over 100,000 apiece. The most consistently valuable ones are the exclusive ones from the DLC areas, and there are a couple of tombs full or urns in Vvardenfell that are particularly good for looting. The urns will be empty if you try to do this more than once every half hour or so. * Dreloth Ancestral Tomb: SSW from the Sadrith Mora wayshrine. Take the Ancestral Adversity quest, but don't complete it by talking to Elfbetta outside at the end (you can only enter the last room of the tomb while you have the quest). This is a good place to park an alt. * Hleran Ancestral Tomb: NW of the Ald'ruhn wayshrine. Not marked on the map. The ghosts are no longer hostile after you finish the Ancestral Ties quest. 4. Rare motifs. Prices dropped because of the anniversary event, but they're on the rise again. The more difficult they are to acquire, the more valuable they are. So the ones from the DLC dungeons or the ones you apparently have to pickpocket in Vvardenfell are worth the most. Rollersnake fucked around with this message at 23:31 on May 19, 2018 |

I was going to ask coincidentally to this latest conversation, is there a decent way to get money from just killing stuff and selling the drops from a certain area or whatever? Sometimes I like to just mindlessly grind and getting money while doing so would be nice

Vendor trash is worth about the same the whole world over, and you'll get more money just from questing. When you're C160, trash bows and staves sell for 70-80 gold apiece, and that's about the best you can do. If you must mindlessly grind, I recommend doing dolmens and public dungeons. If you meant for equipment to sell at a guild trader, no equipment below the max level (C160) is worth anything. Once you're C160, if you luck into getting the right weapon in a popular set with the best possible trait, you might be able to get 10,000+ gold for it, but this isn't remotely a reliable way to make money—just a nice bonus for hanging around and questing in Rivenspire, Bangkorai, Stonefalls, or Malabal Tor. One little trick I'd like to add is to download and run the Tamriel Trade Center addon/.exe. Before you post something, search it on the TCC site and put yours up slightly cheaper than whatever is on the first page. Then, /reloadui after you post the item - your item will now appear as the most recent listing every time you log in AND it will be the cheapest. This helped me supercharge my sales, 90% of what I post is gone in under 24 hours.
