A number of general messages proposed for license plates were rejected as well.

Among them: HELL NAW, H3LL YEA, IPASGAS, FARTS and BTCH PLS.

Other license plates rejected last year likely were turned down because they could misrepresent law enforcement or governmental officials or their titles. Those include: US AGENT, PRESDNT, TEXDPS, THEMAYR, DA MAYOR and GUVNOR.

And some proposed plates rejected last year likely were scrapped because they were considered too sexual, including PORNSTR, DATBUTT, ILSPNKU and SEXDRIV.

Yeah. The Rangers need a new stadium :v:

Arlington (and any of the smaller cities in DFW) would literally burn money than spend it on public infrastructure. Cowboys and Rangers games and even leaving Six Flags on a busy day are a waking nightmare trying to get out.

My mother always put beans in chili when I was growing up so that's how I eat chili. :colbert:

She's from Amarillo so it might be that Midwestern influence.

Well I wasn't rushing to sign up to be a volunteer since my priorities are elsewhere but it was a friendly and interesting chat, as these things are. There are Beto signs around the neighborhood, including the building next door, so I mentioned how unusual this is for a Democrat running for Senate in Texas and in this neighborhood in particular, which is fairly conservative.

It still doesn't change the fact that Arlington is the largest US city without some form of public transportation. Arlington blatently refuses to do anything that might improve the lives of anyone living north of highway 80 unless its bulldoze their homes after paying them a pittance so jerry jones can have a bigger loving parking lot. Yes, I grew up there, can you tell?

WHITE SETTLEMENT -- Councilman Dave Mann abruptly resigned Tuesday night, a week after the city, he said, recognized local Bandidos motorcycle gang members during a proclamation for Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month.

Mann, who was elected two years ago, is also a Tarrant County sheriff’s deputy.

Mann read a written statement before Tuesday’s council meeting, saying that he could no longer serve on a council that did not value and protect its citizens. Members from the local Bandidos motorcycle gang attended the council meeting May 8, he said.

The Texas Department of Public Safety lists the Bandidos among the most significant gangs in the state, along with the Bloods, Crips and Texas Mexican Mafia. The group was involved in the May 17, 2015, shootout with the Cossacks in Waco that left nine people dead and at least 20 injured.

“It is a sad day when city officials invite violent criminal street gangs into our city who thrive on selling heroin, marijuana, methamphetamine and other narcotics and promote prostitution, human trafficking, gun trafficking, murder and other criminal activities,” Mann wrote in his letter.

I think a San Antonio council member had also boosted the Bandidos at one point, but yeah, bad timing considering that last year the Fort Worth Bandidos leader got 45 years for murder.

Meanwhile in DFW news there's a corruption scandal in Richardson over real estate:

quote:

Former Richardson Mayor Laura Jordan and a land developer she married have been indicted on federal conspiracy charges, including bribery, the U.S. attorney's office for the Eastern District of Texas has announced.

The seven-count indictment announced Wednesday accuses Jordan, 53, and Mark Jordan, 51, both of Plano, of honest services wire fraud, conspiracy to commit honest services wire fraud, conspiracy to commit bribery, and bribery concerning programs receiving federal funds.

Laura Jordan — at the time named Laura Maczka — was Richardson mayor from May 2013 through April 2015, and her now-husband was a land developer, the release states. The indictment states that contrary to campaign promises, Laura Jordan voted in favor of zoning changes to make way for Mark Jordan's development and allow apartments to be built even though an "overwhelming number of citizens" opposed the plan.

In exchange for her votes, the indictment states, Mark Jordan paid her over $18,000 in cash and $40,000 by check, paid for over $24,000 in renovations to her home, paid for luxury hotel stays and flight upgrades, provided "lucrative employment" with one of his companies and provided "intimate sexual contact."

I saw your original post and watched the video, then checked DMN and got this article, and for a long while I thought these were two different stories about two different Richardson mayors.
