With lungs they dont know if it has or has not touched the poop so it's unsafe. There is no ambiguity with intestines.

My only experience with cow lungs was doing necropsies in vet school. We had to cut them into strips to check the insides. They were a pain in the rear end with the knife and flopped all around but I figured out scissors worked much better. They did not seem especially appetizing to me but a lot of those cows had been laying out in a field for varying amounts of time before transfer to the vet school and it was May in Tennessee. So the smells were... unpleasant. But the texture I could feel was definitely really unique, very sponge like. I also got to tour a slaughter house. We got to see how they prepare all the tripe/forestomachs for sale. They were washed thoroughly then put in a room with constant air flow to basically blow dry them. Then they showed us a bucket of gallstones they planned to export to China, I guess it's some kind of aphrodisiac in Chinese medicine or something and they actually get decent money for them.

I had to peel two bushels of Granny Smiths today and found three or four vajajay-looking ones. I wanted to snap pics but my boss was in a bad mood and would've hollered at me for wasting time. Also, my gross out thing is really just maggots, not any ol' worm. You'd think I'd be inured to them after a couple years washing dish for the Army and being responsible for taking out kitchen trash to dumpsters in Virginia summer, but nope. I did, however, get really good at opening dumpsters from four feet away with an old mop handle, so as not to get a face full of flies straight out of The Amityville Horror.
