Fun fact: Michael Bolton once auditioned for the vacant lead vocalist slot in Black Sabbath.

I believe it, he fronted a rock band in the late '70s called Blackjack under his real name (Bolotin). I know this because my dad got my mom his first, eponymous 1975 album on cassette one Christmas, not knowing it wasn't exactly what either would expect:

Content! Enjoy this 1991 FOX special about teen idols! Hosted (kind of) by David Cassidy and featuring noted super dreamy 90's heart-throbs as Jason Priestly! Mark Wahlberg! Will Smith! Pauly Shore...? The Party...?? The Bros...???

I remember seeing just the intro when I was a lass and not getting to see the rest until... just now, actually. Which is maybe for the best because where grown woman me loved every drat minute of this, teenage me would've been very angry at the lack of New Kids on the Block.

Michael Bolton was everywhere in the 90s but I'm always surprised that he had such a long career.

Man I was listening to What A Cartoons latested episode and Bob Mackey was talking about how he got a video tape of all the pilots for adult swim and that reminded me of getting early as episodes of Aquateen and Sealab in QT and RM files. But I honestly cant remember if that was late 90s or early 2000s.

Early 2000s, Adult Swim wasn't a thing until then.

I feel like there's a direct connection between the Milli Vanilli scandal and the sudden disdain for pop music in favor of the authenticity of gangsta rap and grunge. All I know is that around this time I finally became a New Kids fanatic and my schoolmates had moved the heck on. Fun times. :sigh:

A male dominated, fan-curated Star Wars CCG sounds like something you'd make up as a parody of the almost worst possible fandom imaginablethe worst possible would be a star trek-based one.

I liked Pokémon cards - I think in my school they were bigger than the cartoon or the games - but I didn't know anyone who actually knew how to play the game. Everyone just wanted to trade them so they could have their favourites.

For reasons that baffle me even to this day, I was really into the X-Files CCG:

EFF TEE DUB!!
EFF TEE DUB!!
I was going through some stuff in my closet and I found that I still had like 6 different decks mad up for the Star Wars CCG. I have no idea how long they have been put together, but looking through them gave me a huge wave of nostalgia. My friends and i would spend hours playing that game. never went to anything competitive, but we loved to make themed decks and just slam them into each other. Junior and Senior years of high school was the tits.

loving 20 years later and we are all playing the X-Wing miniatures game, so I guess LOL on us for never growing the gently caress up.

The other CCG I really got into in the 90's was Rage: The Apocalypse and Wildstorms. I played Magic and thought it was pretty bad. Looking back, I think I dodged a bullet.

Me and a bunch of friends organized to buy a few ME decks to try the game out, but the "friend" who ordered the games ended up opening them and taking all the good cards and replacing them with crappy ones. But from what we could gather from the rules of the game that resulted in the crappy decks we got literally being unplayable. I don't remember what it was exactly, but cards relied on having specific cards out which he took from our decks.

It looks too complicated. Magic is easily understood by a 12 year old but this game looks like I don't know what.

I played it and it was really fun. It suffered, like the Star Trek game, from the 'rare cards are just plain better' problem that sunk an awful lot of card games so the more packs you and your friends bought, the wider the gulf between people could become just based on luck of the draw.

It was still miles better than the Star Wars game which was exactly the kind of card game you would imagine the very worst of the EU fanbase would design and claim to enjoy playing.
