Same. Also the different transform options were pretty neat back in the day. Not as good as old school transformers/mask but still

Is she from Tallarn? No? Then she can't wear a hijab because none of the millions of Imperial planets have cultures that would wear it. I know since I've never once imagined it any other way and because

Right i sometimes forget that 99.999% of the humans of the Imperium are white men with upper-class british accents. The 0.001% are of course pornstar-bodied ladies battling in high heels and power bikinis.

Seriously though, the character designs for these new books are fantastic. If I were 8 again I would be begging my parents for the 40k one.

Definitely Pacino, it's a capture right out of a still from Scarface.

But there's no Latinos in the Imperium so I dunno.

Y'all are saying it's Al because of the pose (which I concede) but I'm saying it looks like Hauer and that Hauer could make that pose just as easily.

edit:CGI image because the real Rutger didn't age as well.

Blood and Souls and all that

It's always funny to me to try and imagine people in-universe designing these things.

"Yeah, get me like a gem on the middle of my forehead. Gonna look so cool"
"And maybe add a laurel wreath to one of my fists, so I can punch victory"
"Wait, leaves look weak. Better add in a couple metal skulls to it too"
"And that rear end in a top hat Brother Klepto keeps stealing my boot. Can you add in some sort of label to it? Just a big old "KANTOR" right there"

Actually being against war or weapons of war aka emperors holy wrath blessed by its mars priesthood and the holy church, is borderline heretical. People were executed for being unable to pick up their weapons. Also there is no such thing as a civilians as a concept in w40k, everyone either is a warrior, makes weapons, makes food for the army or transports stuff. Also as someone who lived through a war in the 90s, I have not met a single person whose trauma made them hate weapons. Hate the other side? Yes. Want to get "even"? Yes. Succumb to drugs or alcohol? Often. Hate or fear weapons? Nope, not when the other side still lives. And in the w40k world the non human side will always live.

Blood and Souls and all that
I was pleasantly surprised that most of the comments in that thread are some variation of people being totally okay with the books, plus one person with a reasonably well argued stance of "This isn't an awful thing to happen or whatever, but it is a dumb idea and probably won't succeed". Naturally, there are also a handful of hilariously dumb people with takes like the one posted above
