Lately the Wurster calls have been within the first hour so it hasn’t been too bad

On a positive note, whip talk is amazing, along with Porno Home Companion. I love the direction the caller-less portions of the show has been heading. And Tom with Wally Wackiman will always be great.

The first whip talk was really funny, the second one wasn’t as good. The street fighter fiction bit was funny too.

Tom is working harder than ever on this show, the callers are the worst they’ve ever been, and he is probably barely breaking even financially, when is he going to have an actual on air meltdown?

They are raking in over $21,000 a month from Patreon. I think this is probably the best he's ever been off by a long shot. He couldn't make any money off of WFMU and I'm sure the ads weren't paying that well.

I wish something could be done about the callers. It's just something you can't replicate without being over the air I guess. By the nature of internet vs radio, all of the random weirdos just get replaced by fanboys and the show loses some of it's magic.

At least the show will always have 2/3rds of what made it great with Wurster and Tom's rants/storys/oddball experimental comedy bits. It's just a shame we don't get nutjobs like Spike to listen to anymore and the whole Stephen Universe thing has really kind of hosed the show's vibes up a bit.

        PEEP THIS...
           BITCH!

I don't remember the last time it happened but wasn't there a show where it was done on a different day(a saturday?) and the calls were totally different cause it threw off all the die-hard bad callers I guess?

Tom should randomize the day of the week every week and keep them on their toes.

inferis
Dec 30, 2003

I still have no idea how the time travel show went so well if it had live callers. It seems like it would have gotten either no callers because people thought it was actually an old episode or terrible ‘comedians’ who tried too hard to be in on the bit.

Also, Cassius needs to call again some time, or the mattress guy, since Tom is so nice these days I think he plays off lovely people really well

I'm curious if it was one of you guys that apparently caused a bunch of drama in the facebook hugbox. I missed whatever it was but it sounded like it was Kat and Laurie related and I immediately thought " I bet that was a goon"

inferis
Dec 30, 2003

I mean it’s not like this community is the only place that is tired of Kat’s calls, she has complained about the Facebook group before. The mgmt call was so hilariously bad that if we can get one of those a year all her other unfunny bad calls are worth it.

The one new episode I remember having new interesting callers was the one where he tried to get callers calling in from every state in the country. A lot of first time callers on that one.

I've basically resigned myself to the fact that I only listen to about 50% of the show now. I don't like some of the alternate universe stuff and I skip a lot of callers. This week had Avalanche Bob and Kat from Raleigh back to back so that was a lot of fast forwarding, not to mention Lori and a bunch of other snoozers. Good Roy call though.

Kart Barfunkel

I stopped in the middle of Roy’s call because I had to go to work. Did Avalanche Bob come back to explain why he was so pissed?

I might be overselling it but yeah most recent ep, if you already can’t stand her calls enough that you bother skipping it probably isn’t worth revisiting. I’ve just found a way to appreciate them

However avalanche bob is terrible and my least favorite caller of all time.

Show is fine but I tune out more than I used to. Some weeks if he has people in studio I don't know/like, I won't listen, because digging through three hours of show to find the good stuff is not worth it. Too many podcasts tbh

The skip forward button is real nice. The high points of the show are still very good, but trying to do 3 hours pretty much guarantees there will be filler.

Tom announced on the show that he's moving to Toronto for a while to work on a show.

That might explain the lack of "nobody wants me" monologs in the last few shows.
