I love that this is basically a glorified masters set with a bunch of new hot stuff. Let’s all ensure this happens regularly.

Yeah, there's no way these durdle-turtle garbage build-arounds (Lattice, Revenant, Dub Season) hold any real value after they get reprints. They aren't even worth playing at anything but the most kitchen tabliest games. But, on the plus side, we are getting rad poo poo like Seedborn Mana Rock, Trinket Spelltutor, and 5c Warrior Lord, so I'm p stoked about this dumb set.

Prices of random EDH reprints in this set don't need to hold up, because the reason the reprints are a good thing isn't because they add tons of value to the set, it's because people want the cards. It isn't like Masters 25 where they put the (enemy only) Filterlands in and their price predictably crashed and those $10 packs with a lovely draft format suddenly were terrible value. Battlebond is substantially less cost, so even if prices crash down to a few dollars, you can still justify doing a $12 Battlebond draft and picking up a few $3 rares and it's worth your time. Assuming Battlebond is fun to play with, of course.

Set seems dope and fun to play with. Definitely gonna bring my brother to a pre-release. Neither of us had ever done 2HG before the dominaria pre-release and it was a ton of fun. Getting a few rares for casual/commander play will be a nice. It's also nice that the store near him gives prize support of any kind of booster (sup mm17) for your wins and not just whatever set you're playing.

You can add blue to play the pirate that tutors for equipment, and the vampire Forerunner. Shouldn't be that hard to draw the combo. Blue also allows you to play Negates to protect it

That one drop wand was a really weird choice, maybe he's just bad at magic." Totally blindsided when the aura dropped and he went off.

Oh for those of you who enjoy the "Owlbear gets owned by his eight year old daughter" stories, here's one from last night: I did a sealed thing splitting a fat pack with her and she came up with an amazing sequence with Sagas. Had a Song of Freyalise out and had its Act III resolve on the same turn before Act II of Phyrexian Scriptures. I did not win that game.

This reminded me of LSV's "Genius or Grifter" story about Cheon calling a judge over, asking a question in private, then confidently playing Pithing Needle, naming Birds of Paradise (which his opponent has out). Opponent assumes that that works (it doesn't, and is almost borderline scummy wasting a judge's time) and doesn't try to use the bird for mana.
