so to recap, the only ongoing series at Polygon now are FiendZone, Brand Slam and Gill & Gilbert (Twitch only) they've cancelled: Video Game Theater Awful Squad Flimbreakers Overboard Week in Revue Game Ogre Let's Play the Baseball Game Fold Yeller ExeCUTEables We Fought a Zoo I'm sure the business model for the Youtube channel was unsustainable but it feels like we're nearing the end of Polygon video content in its current form. hopefully they can come up with some sustainable series and not succumb to the Cartoon Hangover fate of only posting "105 CARTOON CONSPIRACIES YOU DIDN'T KNOW" garbage for the rest of time

They seem to post about 5-10 regurgitated news stories a day, a couple reviews a week, and one "feature" per week. I took it as a horrible sign that G&G had their stream highlight video and loser challenge canceled after 2 weeks. It must be creative death to be in a place where new ideas have to get McElroy numbers in a week or disappear. They're like Giant bomb with 3 times the number of employees, far less output and no subscription. I don't understand how games media like them survive or why it would be a satisfying workplace.

The biggest killer is they're not generating new series and 'exploring the space' of new games. Without new series there's no reason to check back on their channel and they'll just wither their viewership to nothing.

The lack of the loser challenge does suck though, but I chalked it up to them being sick/busy the last few weeks.

I never understood why there weren't more Gameplay Overview videos, and how they can keep doing games media without a series like that. 'Gameplay overview' as a concept just seems like such a fundamental backbone feature of what I'd expect from a games media company.

Simone and Clayton just did a gameplay overview of the Jurassic World game that’s like a Tycoon game, so it seems like they’re going to keep that series alive. I think they’re still continuing Overboard, Jackbox games is starting back up next week, Simone has her Games Feel Good series still. YouTube sucks as a platform and gets worse every update, but I don’t think Polygon videos are gonna die.
