I use straps when I do a max effort set with a lot more than 5 reps but below that I like to be able to know I can actually pick up the bar that many times, not stand up with the bar strapped to my hands that many times

I’m currently doing overhand grip as heavy as possible because I agree about wanting to be able to actually pick up heavy weight. But it’s also my limiting factor and straps are just so tempting But my max DL is 315 so lol at me anyway

Hot take incoming. Using straps on your main heavy DL sets is A-OK IF you are not training to compete. You want to exercise your back/legs and not your gripstrength, it allows you to concentrate on the actual important bits.

Gripstrength owns though and the stronger your hands/forearms are the better all your heavy lifts will be, from dumbbell-anythings to bench

am i being a dumbass replacing bench press with db press past few weeks? poo poo owns, you can go so much deeper and really feel it but am i loving myself in some sort of criss angel mindfreak way but skipping actual barbell bench?
