If you like Manga Time Kirara-style slice of life shows like New Game or K-On, Comic Girls is a nicely produced one of those. If not, there's nothing there that's likely to sway you IMO. I like it, but it's not blowing my mind or anything.

comic girls has a lot of good gags and great character beats and it legitimately feels like the author is transmitting their lived experiences with drawing manga young and the insecurities that come with it directly into the work, but on the other hand the character gimmicks feel really, really forced and so a lot of the gags fall flat. the shonen girl didnt need to be a chuuni, she was already funny enough just being a lazy girl that draws shonen. her best line was before the chuuni thing was even established. it just feels like it lacks self-confidence, basically, like the author wasn't committed enough to their characters to just stand behind them as they were, they all needed some kind of shtick. and i mean, new game had a couple of characters with gimmicks (guns, hamster, lesbian) but it felt much more willing to let a scene go by without cramming said gimmicks in there. still not a bad show, mind. just one that could have easily been an a-list kirara manga time show like new game or yuru camp instead of a b-list one.
