Welcome back to the no-shame zone where we post whatever and are proud of even the most terrible things we draw!

Please notice how I'm valiantly resisting the urge to just post "same lol"

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'll have to try some of the stuff you guys suggested, though I mostly limited to working digitally which makes sketching difficult (I don't have the materials or space to work outside of my tablet). I'll have to figure this stuff out but I won't lie, its stressful as hell to do.

I drew a coconut to feel better.

I think it would be helpful to get some paper and a pencil. Maybe I'm misunderstanding but I think those can be accommodated by any space or material limitations. You don't need newsprint and vine charcoal, strictly speaking. Paper and pencils are often free, or nearly-free.

Anyway as for my own stuff, some life drawing from the past week or so:

Random lead singer from random band.

Added bonus robot drawing. This drawing was made by a polargraph. Which is something like a 2d plotter attached to an easel.

My life's been in the dumps for a bit so I haven't been able to draw, but I'm making some changes now, so hopefully I can rectify that.

Anyway, speaking of out of comfort things, here's some traditional sketches:

babby's first drawing, not really "finished" but complete enough that i wanted to post it

considering I literally haven't drawn since I was a kid I am really happy with this. However, it doesn't look that much like the photo. Proportions are off, the eyes don't look right, the shading on her left side was really difficult since to me it all just looks "dark". Also I got lazy with the hair and didn't follow the instructional video I used for the rest of the drawing. happy to hear any constructive criticism

one thing I'm not sure about is whether I should darken some of the lines of her main features. I had been doing that, but then adding shading and stuff makes it all relative and suddenly they don't look so dark and sharp. I don't want to go too severe but I wonder if it might give more contrast in a good way

oh, here's what I was drawing - https://imgur.com/a/N4YYXwc

you can do that but be judicious. If you squint while looking at your reference that will increase the contrast; usually on a human face the highest contrast bits are the top edge of the eye, the nostrils, and maybe the corners of the mouth, so those are pretty safe spots to make much darker marks

e: and the squinting should confirm that your impression was correct; the left side of her face (her left) in the picture is dark, definitely darker than the right side; even some of the lightest skin values on the left side are near the darkest on the right.

When I'm following a reference, I usually check to see if I'm on track by crossing my eyes just slightly, not enough to split the vision, but enough to blur it so that I can see if the main shapes are right. I'll add squinting to my repertoire of things to gently caress up my eyes with while drawing.

Talking of loving up, who wants a rad tattoo?
