Manuel Lanzini. Had a great game in Argentina's most recent friendly, is a relative unknown outside the premier league (so people don't know that he's a bit overrated), and West Ham always lose their best players.

Marseille is apparently serious about signing Balotelli, which would be an exponentional improvement over their current set of forwards.

It says a lot about Gourcuff that when you google him, most of the responses are articles saying "Whatever happened to Gourcuff?" from 2014/5

drat I remember Gourcuff being like the best player on one of the older Football Manager games, and that's the last time I heard his name until just now.

Yeah whatever happened to him? That one goal was legit one of the best I've ever seen and then he just vanished into Ligue 1 anonymity or something?

Tokyo Sexwale
Jul 30, 2003

he washed out of Milan for reasons unclear to me (unpopular with Maldini and Ancelotti for some reason, I think), and was a key part of the Bordeaux team that won the Ligue 1 title in 2008-09. After that, he was part of a terrible spending spree by Lyon that left them financially destitute, which he never lived up to, because he was hurt all the time. After that, yeah, Ligue 1 anonymity. He most recently played for Rennes when his dad was managing.

Liverpool had been offering him a contract for over two years.

It’s smart of Can to play to his strengths by switching to a slightly slower league.

Apparently he wanted a release clause in his contract to keep his options open and Liverpool didnt want to break their new policy of not putting release clauses in contracts any more.

I could understand if he wanted to move to somewhere where he was a nailed on starter too, but surely he would be rotation material at Juventus too.

Ironically Arsene always had a massive hard on for him and wanted to use him as a striker, he said as much back in the Everton Moyes era.
