P-90s are single coils, JM Pickups are also single coil pickups but they're not P-90s... except for the Jazzmaster pickups which are Strat pickups in a JM casing.

I swapped my 60s JM pickups for Lollar P90s. I’ve been told they aren’t “true P90s” but they give me that sweet Gibsony tone I was after in a single coil. I love the chimey Jazzmaster pickups but I had to choose which one I want more.

I don’t totally despise those forums but good lord some of the garbage that passes as acceptable is baffling. Instead of getting too angry though I choose the ego path of feeling good that I’m not a 60 year old maga hat being gross about every possible thing on a bass guitar forum.
