Technically, you can sue the city for it and maybe win. It's happened. My city has a form you can fill out and they will supposedly recompensate you for any damages. Supposedly.

I did one of those reports in my city. I was told that they only paid out if it had been x days (I forget) after it had been reported to the city. So they had like, a business week to fix it after someone's poo poo got hosed up. My other option was to sue. I bought a new tire instead (it was nearly new to begin with before the giant bulge from the pothole) and considered stealing a street sign as vengeance or something but realized that would just exacerbate the sort of infrastructure decline I'm so annoyed about. Being an adult is stupid. edit: quoted the wrong post

Olympic Mathlete posted:It has mk3 Supra saw blades on it. Weird. Not really - the brakes at a guess are too big for the customary 15" but the largest rally tyre availible is a 16". Given that 16" rally wheels are REALLY thin in the ground especially then, the Mk III wheels are probably the smallest and strongest you could find that would work with big enough brakes to stop that whale of a thing...... it would HAVE to be over 1500kgs with all the rally armour and rules prohibiting exotic panels. From experience, 1500kg rally cars destroy brakes very, very fast. And to be honest, a MkIV turbo Supra rally car? HAHAHAHA nooooooooope. The weight and overheating issues would have been legendary, let alone the suspension would be a joke with some truly fundamental issues.

Mercedes W25, the original silver arrow seen here racing at the Klausen Race hill climb event sometime in the early 1930s. The reason why it became the first silver arrow? From Mercedes themselves: quote:It was a simple idea in 1934 that made silver the colour of racing success – success that persists through today. It all began on the eve of the Eifel race at the weighing station on the Nürburgring. The regulations allowed no vehicle to weigh more than 750 kilograms. The brand new W 25 weighed one kilogram too much however. Alfred Neubauer, manager of the Mercedes-Benz racing team, had the white paint ground off, leaving a purely aluminium body that sparkled in silver. The next morning Manfred von Brauchitsch took his seat at the wheel of the lightened, 750 kg car and won the race with a commanding performance. Later he was to tell the press: “To drive a Silver Arrow is an honour.”
