i don't really like yesika salgado but I can understand a fat brown woman being peeved at a white guy implying that her career choice as writer is easy by basically referring it to as some side-hobby, I mean hasn't this thread shared plenty of screenshots of IoSM getting mad that artists won't work for free because they think its easy

We just don't have enough information to know if he was being a condescending rear end in a top hat or making a good faith effort at conversation (most people love talking about themselves and making your customers feel good improves your tips/ratings). She said he was 'exhausting' not rude.

Is it even necessary to say this? "this is horrible and all but did you know that she was a bitch? makes u think" Like it makes you look petty and misogynistic. A dude was monstrously abusive to a woman and you have to go "I'm not saying she deserves it, but". This is the "I'm not racist, but" of talking about abusive relationships.

TIL: Expecting customers at a restaurant to mention that they have allergies is ableist. Friend of mine went to a restaurant with another friend of hers. Her friend had an allergy and the restaurant handled it poorly. Someone who's a chef chimes in and agrees that the restaurant handled it poorly, but also mentions it's on the customer to mention if they have an allergy since the menu isn't going to list every single ingredient. said the best thing to do if you have a food allergy is to mention it to your server so that ingredient can be avoided. Someone else jumps in and starts yelling at the chef for expecting people to mention their allergies. Queue an IOSM parade The last one is Warren Peace, I had to retake the screenshot as imgur was being dumb. Still though

Sadly there was a case in the UK where a girl brought up an allergy to a server, who then assured her the dish would be fine for her. It wasn’t. She died. I can only assume there’s now an instant distrust of people who bring up food complications because of how abused it’s been by hypochondriacs and other attention seekers (see also: service animals), that he probably just didn’t believe her and assumed she’d be fine. Tragic, and completely avoidable.

What're people using to anonymize facebook posts like in the one above? Also they're completely right to be upset at how it was handled (anytime food is sent back for pretty much any reason the customer shouldn't be charged, and gloating about how someone in back is eating it then charging them for it is beyond the pale), but if you have a serious allergy, even if you're drat sure what you're ordering doesn't have it, you should mention it. If it's something served raw there's a decent chance of cross contamination with other stuff chopped on the same board.

Yeah, my friend and the person she was with are totally within their rights to be pissed at how the entirety of the situation played out. Yeah she should have mentioned the allergy, but the restaurant charging her for both dishes and trivializing it is hosed up. I just found it stupid that the chef person, while coming off as a bit crass saying that she should mention she has an allergy when ordering, gets leaped on by the random white knight who equates it with victim blaming and ends it with "enjoy your time in the service industry". He probably didn't know, at one place I worked (pseudo upscale burger joint) I was unaware that most of our cheeses were unpasteurized until I had a pregnant lady ask me about it. I said I was pretty sure they were pasteurized, but thankfully I double checked with the kitchen. With the high turnover rate in the industry it's pretty impossible to make sure all the servers know every ingredient in every dish unless it is all actually listed on the menu. It's absolutely the servers fault if they didn't check with the kitchen though.

My bosses do this and it drives me nuts. As near as I can tell a lot (all?) of schools are schools are peanut free these days, and whenever a teacher/parent comes in to buy cupcakes or cakes or something for a class party, they always insist our bakery is a nut-free environment (it absolutely is not). I feel like it’s only a matter of time until they kill some kid.

Ularg posted:2: Holy poo poo "Playersexual" just kinda hit me as a perfect descriptor. In the parlance of video games, "playersexual" has a specific meaning. When Bioware made Dragon Age 2, they made all four romance options available to both genders, but said it wasn't that all four were bisexual - that in any given game their sexuality happened to be whatever the player is. There was a bit of a backlash against that in the Bioware fandom, leading subsequent games to have explicitly straight, bi, and gay characters rather than 'playersexual.'
