He also did a lovely teen dating show in the 90s, and maybe hosted the now-dead @midnight?

He also founded TheNerdist which I think is far bigger than you'd expect and yeah he hosted @midnight and co-hosted Singled Out in the 90s with a person who's terrible for other reasons

But it's funnier to dismiss him as just a guy that talks about the walking dead immediately after it airs.

I was away, but now I am back. I’m sure you all missed me terribly. I was on holiday in quite-nice Canada and the hellhole that passes for the US, while also working on a closing (this one: https://www.screendaily.com/news/claes-bang-confirmed-for-the-bay-of-silence-thriller-to-shoot-in-2018-exclusive/5129262.article ).

I just wandered in there because I've been watching the Expanse and wondered what people thought of it. I am now convinced that TVIV is full of the dumbest mother fuckers on these forums.

I also don't get the near-histrionic aversion to spoilers.

It's not particularly unique to television, YouTube has a whole cottage industry of THING EXPLAINED and MOVIE ENDING EXPLAINED videos. Some people really need the Balrogs explained to them.

What bothered me about those things (the Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul ones specifically) is that the shows were fertile ground for all kinds of great discussion of the themes and deeper subtext and those rich characters. But all you get is the most bland baseless discussion that basically just recaps the episode. What is the point? I also hated @midnight because they would always gather up a bunch of great comedians and then some how prevent every single one of them from being even remotely funny.

That seems to be par for the course for many Japanese games. In Yakuza 0, it’s a running joke how dumb your protagonists are. Every side story telegraphs their ending from a mile away and you just laugh waiting for your guy to catch up.

PROTAGONIST: hmm, my employee is secretly meeting with an older man and gives him envelopes of money. I bet it’s some creep trying to take advantage of her. I better spy on her and follow her next time she meets him
ME: it’s her dad
PROTAGONIST: OMG, it’s her DAD

He certainly watched the MacGuyver pilot when he was writing Metal Gear 2 which is probably where the notion of Solid Snake being really smart came from.

One of the many reasons Dark Souls 3 is such a good capstone to the series: it really hammers on the idea that linking the flame is at best a futile gesture and at worst actively perpetuates a world that's rotting from the inside out.
