That means older shows still in syndication have been edited to reduce their run time when necessary. It's also the main reason why broadcast TV is trash and a dying medium. Edit: It also depends on if your local TV station is airing an episode they've had on tape for years or if it's a cable network airing it. When I worked at a TV station several years back, our Simpsons tapes still had the occasional 1-800-COLLECT commercial we had to cut out when we digitized it.
