That said, if I had nothing better to do on Midsummer (and were like 10 years younger) getting hilariously drunk on a metal festival sounds like a good idea.

To be fair, it is hard to separate the one day where the Swedish get really drunk from every other day when that happens.

Getting hilariously drunk at a metal festival is a good idea and a good time. All you need to do is take precautions so your rear end can handle the morning after, and that's relatively easy to do. :colbert:

Waking up at the crack of noon and knocking down the hangover with more beer/schnapps is the way to do it.

I can certainly tell you that the official Copenhell schnapps tastes even worse coming back up again. And also that it sucks major rear end cleaning chunks out of a bathroom sink the morning after. So I'm trying to stay away from that this year, which is obviously not actually going to happen.

That noises is disturbing my guitar
The metal is sick but never die

Tonight the power from hell will play in the whorehouse
Orgies, alcohol, the show will be special
Every riff played, a bitch is horny

Metal crossed decades of battles and fights
Recruiting soldiers willing to die
loving bitches and getting drunk on the floor

I agree with this. However, the last time I got stupidly drunk at a festival was the last iteration of Hells Headbash where I had completely lost it and made an rear end out of myself due to going through some bad and stressful personal poo poo.

But when I went to MDF '17 I was on a perfect buzz throughout the entire time (including the couple days beforehand that my gf and I got there to veg out). I somehow found the perfect ratio in between hard liquor and beer that for almost an entire week I was flying on cloud nine.

Michael Keene is a complete amateur at loving up his life, musical career, and scene reputation compared to Blake Judd.

Edit: For a bit of context, Ascension Monuments Media is Blake's record label in case anyone didn't know.

It happened to me twice. Once in the initial "rare Nachtmystium merch" run, and then once in the "I'm clean I swear, I just need to pay bills now" run.

Lead guy in Nachtmystium, also played with Twilight and some other bands. Massive heroin addiction, which led to basically nobody ever wanting to play with him. A few years back he sold a bunch of "pre orders" of the new Nachtmystium album, which turned out to be a huge scam. This (I think) got them dropped from Century Media who were like "god drat it, yeah, gently caress that guy, but if you got scammed we'll at least send you a copy of the new album" (I was one of those). Something unrelated happened and Blake went to jail for a bit, where he "got clean." After he got out, he said he had to sell off all of his music collection and stuff in order to pay for court fees and rehab, and that was another massive scam. At least PayPal refunded me both times. But he got a LOT of people. Which led to the whole "Blakecrush" movement from people who got pissed off about it. Annnnnnd now I guess he's up to his old tricks.

edit-- Yeah the Krieg guy explains it way better.

This article, written by Neill from Krieg, one of Blake's former friends, provides a pretty good summary of some of the Blake Judd story: https://noisey.vice.com/en_us/article/657436/neill-krieg-blake-judd

Basically, Blake was in a black metal band called Nachtmystium and ran a label called Battle Kommand. He got really into heroin and started ripping off other labels and individuals by either not paying for wholesale orders or by taking money for orders or records from his personal collection that he didn't send or didn't even have. He also sold preorders for Nachtmystium's last album that he didn't send and the label that put it out (Century, I think) ended up having to cover for him. All this fell apart a couple of years ago and he disappeared for a while and was homeless in Chicago.

More recently, he supposedly cleaned up (again) and has moved to L.A. and started another record label (Ascension Monuments Media) that has been reissuing a bunch of stuff from his and other bands. The most recent controversy, detailed in that post from Discogs, is that he claimed to have found some dead stock of a Judas Iscariot album released on a label run by a guy who died 10 years ago. However, the art doesn't quite match and some of Blake's associates posted pictures of the design and printing on social media. The records have MONUMENT000 on the matrix, which they tried to scratch out, suggesting that they were pressed recently for his record label and that he tried to cover this up. He also probably doesn't have the rights to the other Judas Iscariot albums he's re-releasing.

I'm tempted to keep my JI poo poo on order just to see how this plays out, whether I get them for cheaper or something. I have until like October to cancel the orders.

On the other hand, I'll probably just cancel the order because gently caress giving Blake money now.

I like a lot of USBM but yeah it honestly sucks Blake can’t get his poo poo together because he’s obviously very talented and in some capacity committed to the scene or what scene he used to be a part of. Really I hope he gets the right help eventually before he ends up dead. Addiction is brutal.

What’s the best go to Nachmystium album? I don’t remember what ones I used to listen to back in the 00s.

The scene is not good for him and vice versa, on heroin or not. He probably should have permanently stepped away when he got clean (if he ever did).

Instinct:Decay. I haven't gotten into much of what came before or after, but that's one of the best USBM albums. Crazy atmosphere, loads of cool riffs, sort of a sweet spot between the more traditional stuff and the psychedelia.

Assassins did have its moments, though.

At one time (2014?), I was getting bombarded with messages from his now dead girlfriend about buying rare out of print vinyls. Vampire junkies are the worst.
