There are two things here competing to be kept in mind: 1. IQ tests are bullshit and mean precious little. 2. Online IQ test results are generally artificially high.

That reminds me of a roommate I had that spend literally two hours going through an online IQ test. Stressing about every answer and finally finishing it only to get a pop up window saying, "Wow, you sure are smart, don't forget to drink your Ovaltine!"

Big fan of the text on that IQ result doing its best to say ‘you’re not that smart but you’re probably just holding back and not trying your hardest, so you should still definitely share this on Facebook’.

People think "bad part of town" means it's total murderous anarchy and you're at risk of being shanked at all times when it usually means "don't buy drugs or go to the sleazy gloryhole-laden bars there"

The shittiest part is that this absolutely happens, just not in these stupid-rear end situations. It's more situations where a doctor insists someone's pain is less than it is because they are black/female/both. You're just having normal menstrual cramps, you're overreacting! *ovaries are solid cysts*

Doctors absolutely do that poo poo and it's repugnant. One of my best friends was told she was having a "bad period" and to Midol it away when she went to her doctor about having severe bleeding and cramping. She decided to get a second opinion and it turns out she actually had serious blood issues that resulted a massive uterine hematoma. She had to have a transfusion. Needless to say she switched doctors after that.

That's appalling since gallstones are pretty easy to diagnose most of the time. They never did an ultrasound to check?

Yeah, I'm pretty drat tough, like deal with my own broken digits, tape up the finger almost bit off by a monkey and get back to work, get my husband to dig urchin needles out of my foot with a knife kind of girl, but when I decide that something is bad enough to get help I usually get dismissed as overreacting and just being a delicate little flower with a booboo and it sucks. It has to be the most frustrating thing in my life.

The first time i saw my last primary physician was when i was in "in tears" levels of pain from a gallbladder that just wasn't having it anymore. The guy walks in, looks at me, looks at his clipboard with everything the nurse wrote down about symptoms and current meds, asks why im taking HRT meds, frowns at the obvious answer, tells me its heartburn and walks back out. That was the most gently caress he was going to give. Period. Next day i go to the ER and after an ultrasound they're like "holy poo poo, that gallbladder is coming out first thing tommorow morning. Heres a lot of dilauded and a room with on demand movies in the meantime."

I guess the lesson is to go to the ER for acute abdominal pain (bonus points if you are currently vomiting from the pain at the time) since they tend to try to rule out things like appendicitis and gallstones first. But I guess it really depends on the doctor and hospital. When my wife went to the ER they diagnosed it pretty much immediately. She even said spending the night in the ER wasn't too bad once they had her on pain meds and she could finally sleep. Best spent on ER care that's for sure!
